Check out this lovely '80s footage...

Blue Heelers in action

I have seen some nervousness in the breed, but they're generally not terribly aggressive with people.

And the 'Heeler' part BAE, is that they like to nip at the heels of whatever it is they are driving.  Licky is very good with people though really dominant in personality.  With other dogs or anything perceived as a threat to her pack (us) she is unbelievably ferocious.  She's heaps of fun in most other respects.

Like I said - every day is an education!

Thanks Saxon7, Woodie and TWB for the pics, info and video. So not a derogatory term at all, just a make of dog. Half dingo, half collie and one heck of a proper dog that come in red and blue varieties. Now I know - nice pics of Licky and Bella too.

I could take the banner down to the  Klassic K Kampout

Here are some possible places for a east coast meeting:

Four Winds Rally, 8/17/2018 to 8/19/2018, Fairmount City, Pennsylvania

Finger Lakes Rally, 8/31/2018 to 9/3/2018, Watkins Glen, New York

Green Mt. Rally, 9/7/2018 to 9/9/2018, Goshen, Vermont

Klassic K Kampout XI, 9/14/2018 to 9/16/2018, Canton, North Carolina

I'm giving some serious thought to riding down for the Klassic K Kampout.  Caveman have you attended this one before (or anyone else)?  If the banner needed to come back up to Canada or the Buffalo area I could do this

For the record, I'm all ready for a great ride through Sturgis then cross-country on my red GT. I'll be in New England (Massachusetts/New Hampshire) on or about the end of the first weekend of August. I will have about a week to linger, ride, visit friends and my daughter (Western - Greenfield MA area) and younger brother (Eastern - Pepperell MA/Nashua NH area).

I am happy to pick up the Banner/SKroll and return it to its origins in 'Straya' mid-September when I return for six weeks. Of course, I'll land in Brissie and after a few days will have my red RS ready for a good roadtrip so I should be able to get it to NSW or to whoever wants to pick up the baton from there...

Yep, Dennis, we will be in Daylesford area last weekend of September for a Permaculture class for the lady, but then Pamela goes home and I have another month to turn and burn. Thinking of the Kosciuszko/Alpine rally mid-October as well. Last did that one in 2008, so I'm due. I also got all dreamy-eyed and started imagining another Run Right Round OZ like back in 2010. That one was a leisurely nine weeks...this one would be more of a blast. Either way, I'll be slogging round here and there Down Undah and will make every effort to get to those who wish to scrawl.

sounds like a plan TWB .
It would be of great benefit to have the Banners return to Australia free of heavy freight costs . This may leave us without the option of a visit to the Klassic K Kampout .
What is the best option for a joint krew gathering once you collect from Bert.

I will be sure to post the when and where of my time in the North East for those who wish to sKribble. Already a few know I'm rolling through upstate New York. I depart from the North West, heading cross country on 28 July. I expect to be in Massachusetts by the 5th or 6th of August, via Sturgis.

Heading back to OZ on 15 September. Got six weeks this time.
Very Happy

Have a safe ride across Dazza and we'll see you when you get here!  22 years ago round about this time my new bride and I were getting ready to hop a plane for Melbourne.  We worked our way up the coast to Cairns for the middle leg of our honeymoon.  I'd kill to make it back to Oz someday to do more exploring on a K.

Woodie,

I don't see borrowing a K down here being a real problem.  Probably just a matter of booking flights.

Air Kanadia even flies direct to Brisbane nowadays.  Although I don't think Daz was all that impressed with the service.  There are the usual shuttles from LAX to the east coast here if you decide to transit south of the border.

Meanwhile we are patiently awaiting the announcement of BAE's itinerary.

Cheers, Dave.

My red RS can be ridden by any forum member (vetted 😉) who wishes to ride Down Undah. It sits a fair bit these days.

Air Canada wasn't bad...just those long flights from No AmeriKa. I take Hawaiian and stop overnight in Honolulu. Breaks it up nicely into two legs, the longest being a bit over nine hours.

Currently enjoying sunrise at the Cascade Country Rendezvous in bucolic Republic, Washington at the Ferry county fairground. It's a balmy 9c at dawn after yesterday's 35. Cooler today with a top of 28, I hear.

I was gunna head over the Great Lakes via Thunder Bay, and from New England that usually means through Montreal, but I'm not averse to a traverse through Upstate New York. If it means another longtime contributor to the forum gets to sKribble I'm up for it.

So, that sounds like your taking the Northern roads through Sudbury, North Bay, over the top of Algonquin, Ottawa and Montreal and then dip into the States. Is that right? If so, dipping down into Southern Ontario would be quite out of your way. I thought you might have been taking the southern route through Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Departing early this coming Saturday morning, the 28th, with a riding mate. We'll be in Thompson Falls, Montana (an easy 661kms/411 miles) to camp that evening, then two days camping/riding across Montana and into South Dakota. There's a campground twenty miles from the 'action' at Sturgis near a clear, flowing stream in the 'quaint' town of Belle Fourche. It's cheaper, greener, shadier, and has cleaner showers than others in the region, and is barely three miles to town for supplies. They also offer a good breakfast in the AM. I'll be two nights there to check out Mt Rushmore, the town of Deadhorse, Crazy Horse's monument, etc., then peeling off from my mate Dan as he stays longer in the Rapid City/Sturgis area than I like to. I've been to all of these places but it's good to have a second or third look once in a while.

I'm giving myself about six or seven days to cross the northern part of the US so I can travel as many older two laners as possible. I like passing through the many small towns of America, especially the mid-west and prairie regions. You can see the silos for miles, are often mesmerised by neat rows of endless corn, soybeans and sunflowers, and there's always a diner with a load of pickups parked outside - the best places to stop for a good feed. These are not haute cuisine types of places but often have solid, muddy coffee, plenty of smiles to go round, and a decent plate of food to tuck into for cheap. Macca's and Denny's have plenty of dollars, and don't need mine.

I'll make sure to check in on occasion to show my whereabouts, especially on the return, mid-August after CF and I have exchanged the banner. If we can connect somehow whilst in the North East or on my return leg that'd be grand. I don't mind a wide detour to check out a really good road or to get as many new sKribbles on the banner as possible before its return to OZ mid-September. Cheers.

Packed up, double checked, raring to go, but waiting on a late-sleeping riding mate to turn up. We're heading to Sturgis then I'm solo x-country, but will try for Thompson Falls, Montana today, an easy 650+ kilometres (400+ miles). It's humid, balmy, calm, a bit of a grey 'marine' layer for now, but heading to a sunny 32+ (low 90s) tops today. Woo-hoo!

Sounds like a super trip. Go safely.
Yeah, got a bit of a habit, but it's healthier than drugs.

The Indian, tho' larger than Mt Rushmore by far when completed, is a long, slow scratch in hard rock.

Somewhere in the Black mining Hills of Dakota I am finding roads I've not already explored. This place is sacred. You know it when you get into them. Its also fast growing, mostly retirement, medical firms, shopping and tourist money removers. The rains of spring have turned waves of brown into lush green carpet over the rolling, pine-covered hills.

500,000 riders are expected for the 78th annual rally which starts Friday. I leave to head east tomorrow. I've already had my fill of endless rows of cruisers riding all over the twisty road at 12 under the speed limit.

Meanwhile in South Dakota, I've just finished a 400+ mile ride in steady side wind and 37c temps.

None of that would bother this old fella...

I have just now finished an iron butt: 1001 miles  (1611kms) in 18-1/2 hours riding time. I departed Sioux Falls South Dakota, rode through Minnesota to Madison Wisconsin, into the hell that is Chicago at rush hour, then through the state of Indiana as darkness descended, to Conneaut, Ohio. The temps varied, but were mainly 30 down to 20c, totally tolerable. Me arse is screaming. It's 4am. Macca's opens in an hour. A quick hot cuppa will suffice.

Midnight at the oasis...

Thanks, Chaz. Bloody knackered is me. Feels good though.

To those upstate New Yorkers and western Pennsylvanians, since there's a massive rain storm this morning and arvo, racing up from MD, VA to New England, I'm going to linger in western NY today and explorefor today, and wait for it to pass. Anyone up for a lunch meeting mid-state, like Watkins Glen, or some other place?

You caught me of guard with your 1000 mile jaunt! I was thinking you may pass by this area on Sunday and would have liked to meet up. Today (Saturday) I have made other plans. On your way through NY you may want to ride by Letchworth State Park, it may not be as grand as some of the places out west but is grand for this area.

Well I read this post, looked over to my wife and began "Lulu my love?......are we still working on the backyard today?  Sorry brother, but this meet up I can't swing without becoming homeless.  It will have to be after your return from Oz.  Keep posting!  I love your ride reports!

As I read this I'm sitting on the dock at the Youngstown Yacht Club where I work.  I'm stuck here until 3 this afternoon.  I don't know your schedule, but if you are here after three, I would buy you a Guinness and an order of wings at the Mug And Musket Tavern before sending you on your way.
