an exceptional effort from all , including Simon who ventured to the far reaches of the globe to share the K friendship with the all knowing Inge .Ringfad wrote:Now that Inge has it cleaned and dried he could sign it.
and then provided a wonderful barbeque including Guinness that travelled from Ireland
with one or two other beers (unfortunately some of us had to drive early the next day !!)
and finally a few other guests
Many thanks to his Inge for his hospitality and the many anomilies he found in my bike - I have a lot of work to do
Gaz , it was such a fantastik report of your kalamities at the Blarney Kastle , it was one to be shared with all.

If only we had put a GPS on the banner to see how far it has travelled.
Myself and Paul know it had a mind of its own on it's postal trip from the UK to N. Ireland. It took over two weeks to get to me.
Inge mid signature
Thanks again to Inge for his hospitality
If I ever make it to see Inge again I will make sure not to have such an early start.
(so I can savour more of that Norwegian Craft beer )

Keep the 2016 event in your Kalendar, it will be 3 years since the 30th anniversary and we are looking to bring it back to Far Kairn, ausbrick wrote:Hi all , I got to say not having been active here for quiet a while I am amazed at where the Banner has been going , great to see lots of names still active , may try for the far cairn again .CHEERS AB

might head out to the kairn monument while there.
Having returned from the care of the eccentriKs in Kork, it now rests a while in newKastle and will head to the Karuah Rally and Mt Kosciuszko in Feb.

The sticker is easy, I'll put aside an OzBeemers sticker also. I like the "Kaos in K..." koncept, ingenious and it can give us lots of rides/meets and kamaraderie.

I like this one, even the part we can see......
Gaz80 in top left.......he came to see all of us.
CFs left hand has Bikerboy [Bob, K100RS France] and his wife the Hooligan Pensioner [Jude F800ST France]. What a trip getting those two signatures. Anyone going to France should meet them, best fun imaginable.
Just above CFs left hand was the trip to Father Teds house, Craggy Island...Cheryl McCormack.
Klompy alongside.....
On the right hand side I can make out Will 88KE
Blakey
GPGuyra
To the left 'Gribbs' maybe SidecarPaul had something to do with this one.
On top of the table of course there's RickG SidecarPaul and Gerty.
Yep, every picture tells a story, there's never a dull moment here. Was great the sKroll made the Atlantic crossing to CF too. There's always another country to go to.
No, I wonder who has met as in face to face the highest number of signatories on the sKroll. A Christmas pudding in the mail to whoever has the highest number!!!! BAE posted a chart of all the names, but it might need some small adding to as it has been signed more since he made that chart.

During the past couple of weekends the Krew in Oz have been gathering at the Karuah River Rally and Bill's inaugural Snowy Mountains ride.
for many , a great chance to meet new faces and share in the forum experience.
It was my pleasure to travel to these events with the sKroll and continue to share the stories of previous gatherings .
The sKroll has become a very friendly piece of banter amongst the Krew.
We had a moment on Saturday night creating much konfusion between the Waz's,
It became a matter of "who waz waz , when waz wazn't waz, does Waz know?
It waz all eventually sorted and clarified on the sKroll.
At the Karuah River rally is Bob Whitehead the BMW delegate to the MCC of NSW( Motorcycle Council of NSW)
with Kevin Barber and his 11/83 K100 eng. no 4062 , fitted with a Sprint fairing , which is rare in Oz.
This Waz was Waz , so to correct the planets alignment , he signed for himself .
Wazza , Gaz and Rick G in the background .
We have so many RT's on the skroll , but we are convinced this is "the Real RT" signing.
Shine some light on the subject will you.
The "Spinning Logo " making its debut at Jindabyne , after being hauled to the top of Mt Kosciuszko along with the sKroll.
much enKouragement provided by Tackler, thanks mate .
Mt Kosciuszko , although a mere 2133metres in elevation , is the highest point in Australia . The closest vehicular access is Charlottes Pass , an 18km return walk to the top.
Quote " Scribble AB in a corner somewhere as I didn't have a texta at the time and the movie was starting when you handed it to me , never got to sign it. Cheers AB "
It was good to finally catch up with Ausbrick and his mate Andy at the Snowy Mountain ride.
all fixed now mate.
Rockman leaving his mark just as we were breaking camp from Jindabyne on the sunday morning.
Tackler with the sKroll at the Kairn monument at the summit of Mount Kosciuszko.
A challenge not to be missed .

Wow - 79 signatures...good effort!
Who would have thought the skroll would become an icon of international Kamaraderie when you acquired it?
At this rate, you're gonna need a bigger banner!

good to see you got my best side there Warren . It was an enjoyable run up to the rally , glad you didn't wait up for me along the way.
Yes Paul , it certainly is acquiring some attention , we can now say it has reached new heights following our accomplishments at Kosciuszko.
Hoping to pass it on soon to TWB for further Khronicles.

Very tempting Charlie , bugger that I'm working this weekend. I'm grounded here sKouring the pages of this wonderful forum .
We'll be sure to get it across to him though. Shame to miss him at Jindayne , it was a top ride put on by Bill and the krew .
So the sKroll will be here a short while longer before it heads to the States.
some thoughts coming to mind which will be passed on to other Krew in the near future.

yeah sorry about that ed ... I was away almost all week , only arriving home late Thursday night , so darrens where abouts were a mystery to me until an unexpected sms about the ride on Saturday , Friday evening .
I guess the horse has bolted ..but I could get an address for forwarding it on ....thoughts ?
also Darren has entrusted me with some bmw k100 memorabilia ie catalogues , cards , a manual and others that I haven't sorted through yet
he saved them from a "toss out" at one of his places of work
ill post up some rough images in the next day or so
and if feedback is positive , could ask a friend with photographic imaging to copy them for data storage in high detail ? perhaps to the downloads section in the end ?

Here I is. Not gone yet. The last minute QMF ride with Charlie was a bonus!
We've been here a month, but a lot of that was taken up by a Bunya Mountains cabin stay, a week with big brother near Brissie, a week in Tassie and several days with me elderly mum in Clunes, Victoria. I woke up this morning feeling like I could use two more weeks here, the month flew past that fast, and I do not want to leave to head back to 10 degrees and rain of the Seattle area!
We're coming back mid-October/November for five weeks before starting a new gig. If The Banner needs a North American go-round then I'll take it. I've got their entire Summer off, June through September and into October as I'm stopping work for a well-deserved breather. I plan on riding some of my K bikes here and there in the western/desert southwest states, may get across to New England to visit a brother, and certainly have plans for Western Canadia as well.
PM me for a postal address.
Sorry to miss you mob at the Snowies. It couldn't be helped.

You have certainly krammed a lot in for the month Darren , a few here wishing they could have joined in the fun .
you know the Krew will be hanging out for a pic report , I'm sure the Seattle weather will bring that on real quick.
It sounds like a summer of fun is on its way ,so we hope we can get the sKroll to you and the US Krew.

Paul's ( BAE )recent visit has continued to promote the international relations amongst the Krew of the Forum, and as he makes his way back to the sunny UK, we now see the sKroll preparing for another adventure of the international nature.
During Paul's time here in Oz , the opportunity for a few more Krew to engage in the storytelling of the sKroll became available.
It was a pleasure to catch up with Ainsjac , Richard , Larrikan and Dale on what was a very enjoyable weekend of social riding with Paul.
Meeting up at the PITS ( Pie in the Sky ) at Cowan just out of Sydney .
Back-Smithy, Klompy, Gaz, Rosskko, Tom, Al, Paul, Warren C, Richard
Front-Ed and Bill ( Marie kindly taking the pic)
Paul wasn't sure if those in the North could read it from DOWN UNDER.
Proper tableware presented for Paul's visit.
Klompy, Al , Tom, Gaz, Marie in front.
Ainsjac giving a splash of Orange to the sKroll at Catherine Hill Bay ( Catho Pub)
The line up at Grey Gum Cafe on the Putty Road . A bucket list location for many riders on the East Coast.
L-R Ed, Gaz , Smithy,Rick G, Marg G, Tom , Bill and Paul.
After a fabulous weekend of riding with the Krew, I returned to the campground north of Gloucester to help pack up.
I couldn't resist taking the long way home , and ventured across to the National Motorcycle Museum at NabiaK. Where the owner , Margaret gave me free entry to display the sKroll. Most of the bikes on display are on loan or in trust with the museum. No K's on display as yet , but who knows........ maybe one day.
The views across the Barrington Tops National Park from Carsons Lookout on Thunderbolts Way.
A popular stop in for many riders, including the Krew.
It's now coming to AmeriKa for TWB and a few of the Krowd there to share.

How many metres (or fractions of metres) long is this thing and how does one safely and efficiently transport it by motorbike?

I'm not sure how Olaf and others may have attached it to their bikes, but I've used a couple of different techniques.
The most secure and least intrusive has been across the rear of the pillion seat , strapping it to the grab handles.
During postage overseas , the sKroll spends its time in an Aussie Post mail tube ,as it just sits under the required 2kg weight scale.
Mail tubes are larger in diameter ( approx 90mm dia.) making it too cumbersome on the K, and not as strong for travelling with.
Olaf used a surveyors map case to Konvey the sKroll ,
I've chosen to utilise some 50mm pvc water pipe with end caps and a tie down strap , all up about $15Aud.
this has provided a safe rigid container which can be left attached to the bike , and remove the sKroll through one end .
The water pipe being much heavier than the cardboard mailing tube.
This option certainly helps when serving up sKones to the Krew.
the width (820mm) is no more than the outside measurement of a set of touring cases attached to your K.
Shouldn't be any issues getting snagged on obstacles , I tried it during Pauls visit to the Macquarie Arms last weekend .
Larrikan and Klompy assisting with crowd control. Not sure what Smithy was thinking.
Hope this Helps you Darren.

Depends upon the portion of the trip(s). All below but the R75/7, the K100RS and the K100 which will be sold.

Please don't feel that I lack sufficient reverence for the sKroll in my previous casual comments about quartering and modes of transport. If it makes it to this part of the K world I will treat it with proper care and deliver it to be signed by whomever would like to participate in the ritual from our forum. It's just that I'm a light traveller and the idea of a metre-long tube sticking out at any odd angle, whacking cars, cyclists and pedestrians as I overtake has me a bit concerned. I could always poke it out the back and attach a wavy red flag like the lumber transporters do. Even better idea: stand it straight up and attach a Rebel flag when down south, a maple leaf when in Canadia, the Stars 'n' Stripes on the 4th of July or whilst at Sturgis in August, or a (insert favourite candidate's name) ".... for President" flag in the middle bits of the country round the first Tuesday of November.

And the banner man held the banner high it was ten feet tell and it touched the sky and I wish that I could be a banner man. that song creeps in when I see this thread.
I do like the sound of the flag pole, they have nice triangle type flags for the uni's over there

It is on its way TWB , after spending a good while chatting to my local postmaster - Andrew, we found a Konnection as Andrew was an avid K1 restorer.
He spoke at lengths of his K1 purchase from Springwood during his residence in Sydney . This extended to the previuos owners lack of respect for the bike , and his endearing efforts to bring it back to its former glory .
So finally back in the Kase in which it spent its time travelling to the EccentriKs, it now leaves our shores once more .
Looking forward to seeing pics of its travels across ameriKa.

Well, in truth it travelled quite a bit on my K, albeit in a plastic drawing tube rather than the postal tube. In hindsight I should have left it in the plastic tube as it did fit inside the postal tube. But, it did a few trips on the K in the postal tube and it didn't go beyond my panniers. So panniers on its no problem. Even with them off its no problem considering the width of the RT/LT fairing between mirror edges. It has been around as BAE took it to CF, Ringfad took it to Norway to IngeK and 88 and myself took it to France.

Received a parcel in the post today , the sKroll .
A brief check of the tracking number shows it has been delivered to it's desired destination.
Details of postage on the tracking notification indicate " International post " " Australia to USA" .
Well it's take two for the sKroll , hopefully the estimated 5 days delivery will get it to TWB in time for his trip .

Does this mean you got the skroll back or the notice saying it was delivered?

The sKroll landed on our doorstep after a week in transit , Tracey promptly sent it and the Kourier packing .
Tracking staus is still showing as "delivered " , so a trip to the post office is needed to verify its current whereabouts .
The only consolation at the moment is that we have a tracking number attached to it . Will keep you all informed as to how it goes .
