Hi there,

I used to ride an R65 and an R100RT in South Africa, but sold them when I left 2 years ago. Took my time replacing them when I moved to Slovenia.

I've just bought a K100RT, though it may be some time before I get to ride it (Winter is coming, and all that).

Greetings from Slovenia K100-rhs

I'm looking forward to some Alpine touring, not to mention perhaps the occasional trip down to Croatia!

Hello Kev.

Your bike seems to come right out of the crate. It is in show room condition and I guess ready to be enjoyed.
How many Kms on it?

Enjoy the forum.

Hi Kev,

Welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy that K, it looks great.

I went for a breakfast run today with someone on a 1985 R65, was a lovely bike and in great condition. Weather not the best so I let him lead the way and he set a nice pace.

Hope we will see more of you here and that you might travel west...

Thanks for the welcoming replies!

For the bike, it has about 78,000 km and I bought it from a guy who buys and restores BMWs (and or two others). In his garage there were a few airheads (R-series) and some bricks (K-series).

Since I had limited common language (I'm still learning Slovene and his English is limited), I did not go into much detail: was the frame recently treated (sand-blasted?) or not.

BTW: He also showed off his latest "toy" - a cafe racer hybrid build on the drive train of a K100, but with R65 headlamp, racing handle-bars and console off something modern, etc.

Regarding the R65: Indeed! I did enjoy it - better suited for the short town trips that I used to make than my older R100RT (better economy, lighter, etc).

Welcome to the forum Kev. As others have noted, you've a lovely bike.  It also seems you're living an interesting life -- SA to Eastern Europe must be a bit of a change....

Welcome Kev, and enjoy the Alps! I know you're just at the other end of them but it's worth going over to the Alpenstraße (German Alpine Road) around the South of Bavaria.

That bike is in really good nick, good to see it that way.

Thanks, yes. But before moving here, the wife and I came for a short holiday and we really liked what we saw. Once we'd decided to leap off the cliff's edge, we haven't looked back!

We really like Ireland. Especially the western parts.. Have a friend in county Clare. It will surely be interesting riding there. Not sure if the wife'll be up for riding *to* Ireland from Slovenia, but we'll see!
