yeah thanks jr ....he doesnt live far from me ,,,so ill head over to check out and take some closer detailed pics

with weight on the bike the clearence is ok ....but forever the pesamist i worry about topping out over a hill and the weight going off ...and metal digging into that tyre, dont sound like a good outcome .

yes there is a fillet of sorts heading back from that left side ...and as you can see im getting into it a bit now ....

as I said in TWB's thread on fitting wider rims , I'm also going down this path , got my K1100 centre stand from Motobins but before I fitted it I took off the 10mm fillet that TWB mentioned needed to go , I've got clearance to the tyre ( how much not sure ) , I've got a rim reserved for use but I'm going to do the whole sheebang once the rear tyre is due for replacement , I'm very interested on how you make out .

Looking good Charlie, starting to come together now. Hows the Foxy Shock going. I noticed my shock is a Hagon when i had it apart on the weekend. Do you know if thats standard on the LT?

Hope you can get your stand sorted, be good to see it with the new wheel/tyre combo on.

The standard shock was a Showa. They wern't too bad but the hagon is a heap better. A lot of people complain that the Hagons are a bit hard on the ride.

the twin clicker should be back wednesday after a rebuild from "rad shokies " i just hope that doesnt become "rad shonkies"

i offered him the rebuild manual ...but he said hes done a few before ..i was surprised when he stated that the nitrogen preload was 220 psi where as the manual says 300 ...oh well ill be broke but with a smile on my face if it goes good ....

yep the big back wheel was planned for before christmas ...but itll have to wait ....my borrowed shock from twb has been sold to blakey so im trying to get that happening as fast and as carefull as i can.

im still in awe of the kindness of many of the forum members here

sorry blakey ....i ripped the place apart yesterday looking for black ties ...but all i could come up with was 150 mm white ones ... i guess theyl do till i can get some nice steel bands long enough to do the job (and some black ties for the wiring loom ).

itll take me another day to put the house back together ...grin ...

but i have lots of plans for the break ...things i have been putting off ...wish i bought some 3 bond a couple of months ago

and i need to set the preload ,,,cant do it myself ...

perhaps a trip up to kingaroy (group meet ?) after christmas (at albys suggestion ) for a day of suspension trimming ...and other works might be a good thing

thinking of trying 7.5 weight fork oil anyhow

i did all the cleanup and paint og ...but the rad shockies guy did a great job on the seals .

so far, just a short trip over to twb's place of work yesterday (city type road ) gives me the impression of a totally controlled rear end ....that is, it just sits there ...no bouncing round or anything dramatic

the real test will be out on the back roads round here on tuesday with all the undulations associated with all that ....

hopefully we will be able to find some high speed sweepers and then i can report if the excersize was all worth it .

this is the first time i have been able to hack around tight twistys and open sweepers and feel totally in control ...

some finessing the preload may produce even better results ...and i may have chosen softer than optimal settings on rebound and compression damping ....but overall ... a verry big grin on this old fellas face

(so what is the verdict on the sus wheel bearing?)

still to get there alby ....the swing arm / bearings are still in my sights for lubrication and retightening if not replacing ...i cant do that yet ...so its on the ever increasing list .

but im happy now i have a new reference of good and bad .

Well, you certainly did an excellent job refurbing the twin clicker mate! Checking those swing arm bearings is on my list too!

When I was installing my windshield, I needed a DPDT, centre-off, momentary contact switch that fit the socket in the fairing dash. I bought an automobile electric window switch from a surplus electronics outlet in Toronto for $1.20. It fit and worked perfectly. It was 35 mm by 20 mm just like the Contura so this may be an alternative source for switches -- after-market automotive parts suppliers or parts depots like NAPA.

great links rob ...and the prices from eastern beaver are good too ....when i went looking, everything appeared dear as poison ...i also have some condura style sealed switches that will fit in the same holes ...more or less

aware of the "bins" replacements inge ...by the time they get here we're still looking at over $28.00 or $42.00 each plus freight and handling charges

i got mine for $16.00 and im sure i could do better if i looked around for a cheaper retailer

whilst i was playing around ...decided to build a universal power supply

i had "recovered " one of our (work) power supplies ...(not in use much these days on site ...with all the upgrades going on ...)

it gives me filtered + and - 24 volts at 2.5 amps ...

-12 ...+5 ...+12 ... regulated and going to add a variable regulator for everything in between ..(adjusting pot at the other end



that hole in the box ....left hand side front to rear .. was full of electronic ttl and analogue circuitry ....amazing what a hacksaw can do ...giggle

Yes we do. One of our local tool suppliers is president of the speedway club. They stock some auto parts at good prices. They stock temp gauges and oil pressure gauges and volt meters as well. Will check out their prices and models on monday for you all.

good tip alby ...i was in the jaycar shop on friday also ....picking up those binding posts .....and saw the verry thing (liquid electrical tape )

do you need a hand building a variable supply mate ? easy stuff .

jaycar sell a great regulator lm338 ...hard to mount though its one of those to3 types ...good for 5 amps and up to 35 volts for under $12.00

but a lm350 t is a good choice also ...to 220 case and good for 3 amps ...about $8.00 i think ..add a pot some bypass caps and a resistor and your good to go ...

a cheepy voltmeter is always a good addition ...i think i have seen on the net digital jobs for about $10.00 but dont quote me on that .. in any case a good investment
