Does anybody have a link to a tutorial (I think it was from another forum) on the installation of the spal fan.
I used to have a hard copy but that cannot be found nor can I find the original post on the net.
It gave detailed instructions, photos and even provided a template for the mounting bracket in a pdf. I think.
I know there is lots of stuff about the fan installation  but this particular one was easy to follow

I recently bought and fitted a similar Spal fan with mounting bracket - bought from Motorworks.

The only niggle was that the bracket holes had burrs and some of the edges were almost razor sharp. A few minutes with a fine file sorted that.

Here is the link to the procedure I used when I replaced my fan that had totally melted it's brush holders.  Go to reply #18 December 20, 2014  There is a good description and nice pictures.

By using the old mount with the new fan the whole job took me just a couple hours, and the finished job looks like it came from the factory with no need to fabricate a new mount.

Years ago I did much the same with a Davies Craig (DC) fan. I cut off the OEM fan motor mounting arms and found that one of the concentric rings on the DC fan lined up with the cut down OEM shroud. I cut away the surplus DC shroud I then made up some stainless steel straps (Bandit) that went over the outer ring and attached it to the OEM shroud with rivets. A 1/2" spacer had to be made out of 6" PVC pipe to allow the blades to clear the radiator. The OEM blades were fitted to the DC motor shaft. Being a fully sealed motor eliminates the need for any maintenance and it's not subjected to water and road crap. I also fitted a override switch at the same time. It's now been humming away happily for 20 years.
Regards Martin.

Following on from .7-5's post, here is a direct link to the post showing how one owner installed the Spal fan without the need for fabrication of a new mounting bracket.

That's a lot more work than my "fabrication."

My cheap and easy install also blocks less air flow so the cooling system works better. Those fancy custom ones do look nice but, once installed, nobody can see it.
