My k100 started leaking oil from the sump a few weeks ago. It was put off and then on Saturday last week the sump started chucking it out.

So the sump lid was pulled off and three bolts just fell out. So it was cleaned up three bonded then had the garage helicoil the threads.

However on one the tap snapped. Which we can't seem to get out and it's not sealing anymore.

So as I can't think of anyway to hold it on thinking of replacing the sump.

Just wondered if anyone has any idea of holding the sump on to seal the gap.

Or does anyone know what parts Ill need if I replace the sump. This obviously means removing the shaft and final drive. To get at the bolts behind the clutch and removing the water pump.

1 out of 13 of the fillister head screws #7 above is inoperable (broken tap)?

In theory, the sump box and engine block are mated at the factory around the output and the sump box is unique to each engine block.

That said, it's worth a try and worst case you can find another complete engine with not too many miles for an OK price.

Re-apply the 3-Bond 1184 sealant
Following the video. In the video 3-Bond 1194 has been replaced with 1184

1.lightly sand the mating surfaces and clean
2.apply your bead of 3-Bond
3.finger tighten the bolts in X-pattern
4.let sit over night to cure before final tightening to torque spec of 6 N/m, 4.5 ft/lb (book spec)

By sump lid, do you mean the oil pan? Was the oil leaking out of the seam between the oil pan and the sump block?

Three bolts, so I'm thinking oil filter cover. If he now has a broken oil filter cover bolt it would be easier to rectify with the removal of the sump cover.

@volador yes that is what I meant. The broken tap is stuck in exactly where number 7 is.

I would try Volador's suggestion first as the cheapest and easiest. If you have a snapped-off tap in the engine block, then the only way that is going to come out is via spark erosion.

[Edit] Stupid comment about oil drainage deleted.

Having watched the sump removal video and seen how easy the job is looks as if your luck has changed for the better,I have made use of Spark Erosion on a few items with total success, best of luck.
