My K75 relies on face to face sealing between sump plug and sump. This was how it was when I aquired it. It looks as if it may have an O ring originally or perhaps an alloy washer. It did not leak until I changed the oil a couple of days ago but it has started to leak now. I tightened it up a tad more and I think it has stopped but I dont like going too tight in alloy. Any info would be appreciated.
Regards Dennis.

Hi dalderton, My K100 RT sump plug has a compression washer that I have not replacecd after many oil changes BUT I always use a smear of RTV Silicon Gasket Maker on the thread of the sump plug and have never had a oil leak I also feel that it is a insurance against the plug coming loose.

Dennis, watch out with the overtightening - K-bike sump plugs are somewhat notorious for getting stuck to the point of not being able to get them out with the internal hex wrench.

New alu compression washer each time and no more torque than prescribed. DAMHIKT

I do my own car servicing and I have to replace a compressible copper washer on the sump plug at every oil change.

I can buy them cheaply in packs of 10 and my car ones fit the K100. Aluminium will work just as well, both are soft metals and compressible. The plug does not need to be excessively tight, be careful not to strip the threads.....
