Unfortunately I'm going to have to give the Narrandera run a miss as I have a couple of clashes with dates. Disappointing, but always another time.

Dissapointing but there will be another, Bathurst in September for the 30th anniversary of the Brick and Ulrich was suggesting Jyndabine or somewhere like that for next year.

I am the worlds best procrastinator so am still thinking about what to do. I don't feel like a 600 klm straight out jaunt to Kancobahn but can't get away Thursday to tag Rickmeister. Meantime the bike is in 100 pieces, think I may have stripped a bolt on the crankcase cover doing it up, can't tell until I get it back together and go for a ride.

If you have get a helicoil kit for 6mm and do it yourself. It's quite easy.

It might sound a bit daft RT, but why not break the trip up on the Friday?

If you left home at the same time as Mr K and myself we could meet you on the road at some determined spot and you would have had over an hours break from riding.
Might be just enough time out to allow a 600km ride.
True, depending on the meeting point it would be a solo ride for a good part, but it will get you a long way down the road ahead of us and time to digest some sauerkraut and kranski.

Just a thought.

While the Friday ride will be around 600km the trip to Narrandera is only about 450ish even going the long way.

I can bring my 10mm socket down if needed before hand.

Can you get to Sydney by Thursday night? You can stay here. I know it is a few hours further than Newcastle but if you wanted to catch us on Friday you may have to leave quite early on Friday morn.

At this stage Bella and I will leave Guyra on Chewsdee and go to Newcastle, there visiting my old mate Karl who dropped his Bonnie and broke an arm. ( Told him we don't bounce when we get older) On Thursday I will meet up with Ulli Grabau and his mad mates and head down the Putty rd. At the third bend, when they leave me for dead, I will then ride on in the lovely autumn sunshine we are going to have and make my way ever southward in the hope of catching up eventually with them and RT and others....etc etc ad infinitum.

just trying to sort a place to stay on Friday night. looks like it might be cooma or Jindabyne. Both places will have a lot of accomodation. Will be a longer ride on Saturday, but meh

but riding as a group is fantastic ...should be enchoraged more often

Did the Melbourne BMW Icicle ride last year, the night started at Midnight - it was 0c, got down to -8c. Hope I dont see that again in 2 weeks time........and yes its snowing up on the mounts at the moment.

Khankoban pub is booked out for the Friday night. There is a push bike ride heading through town. There is a caravan park with cabins available.

KHANKOBAN caravan park has family cabins with 3 rooms for $90. I will call today and see if they are available

Next option is Jindabyne. Surely there will be plenty of stuff available there, but more pricey?

I stayed at KhanKoban Karavan ParK on my recent travels. Its good: clean hot showers etc and cooking areas and a nice view. It's also Bike and Bella friendly and it was there that the Hardly riding maintenance bloke did an excellent welding job on the chair.

Just called the lady from the Karavan park and they have 2 family cabins available for the Friday night.
Cost is $96 for 2 and $10 per person after.

Three rooms each cabin.
Would be good to book them today to secure something if possible.

If someone does not want to share that is fine, but the smaller cabins work out more expensive.

Hmmm........and up here we do have a exceptionally late spring.
It must be the global varming............

Inge winter here means less rain and the occasional frost for brisbane and where I live we sometimes get a very light snow fall at some time during winter. It's not quite as severe as your winters.
Like Ainsjac was saying the global warming is because of all the warm daylight the government is saving up and storing in big warehouses.

Gents, I've been away a bit from the forum myself; much going on with work and my living situation. I hope you'll all have a splendid getaway. Wish I could be there but this work gig is prolly gunna be seeing me through the N American Summer for an October return. Watched an Aussie movie (The Sapphires) this arvo at a little theatre in Seattle and got a bit more than homesick...
