on the way past Taree, looking west from the coast. Haven't yet put any wet weather gear on . I didn't want to lose time as I pushed through.

10 mins down the highway, and it wasn't looking any better for the rest of the trip home.

5 mins from home , and this is what Keith was experiencing . Mt Sugarloaf and Cessnock in the distance just to the centre of pic.

Glad to see you met up.

Maybe he could 'borrow' Comberjohn's weather stone? Might be expensive though and it would need to be collected.

Indian036 can vouch for its effectiveness.

Sometimes we have the impression its 30c all year with you guys......

It practically is where I live in sub-tropical northern NSW although I had to ride with my wwg all day today while I was out running erands. Got a few weird looks while in the supermarket as most people here are still getting about in tshirts.

Gaz80 wrote:Yeah it was good to meet up with the Grabau brothers and Keith today in Maitland. One hardy soul/silly old bugger rode to the meeting point rather than come in the tintop (hang on! that was me) and after defying the forecast of some rain wearing a weather proof jacket but only jeans on the lower half I managed to arrive at the meeting place in good shape with just a little dampness around the knees.

Within a few minutes of ordering our koffees the "silly old bugger" proved to be the right description as the heavens opened and it pissed bucketed down. I dragged out the departure for home for as long as I could with faint hopes of avoiding a drenching but finally had to grit the teeth and brave the elements.

To answer Keith's question, yes I've thawed out now but everything below the waist was saturated on the way home.

I need to apologise to groverK that I didn't have my underwater camera with me today as he had given me specific instructions to "take piccies". Mate, I'll do my best to meet the expectation for photographic records on the next outing.

Despite the weather it's always good to catch up with fellow forum members.

Cheers
It seems Gaz experienced a prelude to one of the hardest hitting storms to our region , striking turmoil on monday night after the Koffee session.
An area extending from Port Macquarie and south to Waz's at Wollongong, bringing much of our glorious east coast into darkness.
Strong winds and heavy rainfalls ( most areas receiving approx 300mm in 24 hrs) leaving many residents isolated and without basic resources such as water, electricity and phone services( including mobile ) .
A few of the Hunter Krew live in some of the heavier hit areas which after 3 days are still in a predicament . I'd like to say a big " take care guys " as they wait anxiously for conditions to improve. This also goes to our friends in Sydney , Central Coast and South Coast regions.
At present I am commuting to Nelson Bay each day listening to the incident reports , having to select alternate ways of getting to work . Still on Generator power to run basic gear at work, as are many of the local population . Electricity supply is the major concern at present, as a result of many fallen trees on power lines. rail lines have in some places been damaged affecting commuters. some service stations unsure of supplies due to high demand, especially for generators. It will take at least into next week to restore access to essential services. in the mean time we are thinking of others less fortunate. hang in there guys if you are affected , look forward to the next catch up.

I was thinking a few hours ago that we hadn't seen any of the Sidknee or surrounds guys for a few days, glad to hear at least you survived the storms Ed. Some of the guys are probably trying to find the old pedal wireless to contact the rest of the world.

yes Rick , a bit quiet , just hoping they are all well despite the conditions . Probably hibernated to their Kaves to play with their bikes whilst it all settles down .
Gaz , Keith and Rickmeister are possibly the most affected here in the Hunter.

Hi all from a still very wet Hunter Valley. At Greta where I live in the Valley we had 350 mm of rain over Tuesday & Wednesday with winds up around 120 km/hr so it was a bit of a worry as we have quite a few very large trees in our yard but thankfully all are still standing and we suffered no damage to our property.

I spoke to Tom Grabau today - he's OK, missed Rickmeister but managed to catch Waz down in the Gong and he and family are OK as well.

This was the most severe weather event that I have experienced in my 12 years in the Valley and sadly there were a number of lives lost in the area due to flooding and horrendous road conditions.

Hope the other Forum members exposed to this weather event all came through it unscathed.

Living on top of a hill has its advantages after all apparently. Just wet with no roads rideable for some time by the looks.
Keep safe all, a few fellows up here were hit by falling trees/branches in cars so I won't be going out for a while.

We read about that storm up here too. Good to see everyone ok, big risk is being brave and going out. Flying debris is a huge risk and we see injuries/fatalities from that and from falling trees, blown gates and so on. Wiser just to keep the heads down and let it pass.

We did it again today Koffee with the Maitland Krowd, it was great, shame I had to disso so soon, Hope to have more time next time, I also have a sinking feeling I didn't pay for Koffee? I cant remember doing it so did I? Will have to go back in there tomorrow and apologise, Koffee at the Tourist Information centre is a good day out. Had a yarn with Gaz80 about the likelihood of using the nose cone of a rs on my K75scoot, just have to chase up a broken one and see if it will look the part. Thanks Rickmiester for arranging it.

Don't fret about the koffee Keith. Harris generously shouted for all of us when we went up to pay. I thanked him and told him to come any time!

Good to catch up with you all. Some of the boys continued on for a bit of a ride, unfortunately I couldn't go with them today.

Look forward to next time.

Cheers
