just picked up my first K100 . an 85 model with 68K. Put 3/4 tank of gas in it and it dies after about 5 mins riding. Will not restart. PO says fuel pump. I have not got manual yet.. What direction do i go to get it running again"???? HELP!!!

some of us have replaced the pump ....secondhand like ....out of other vehicles in this case cars ...i think i recall someone finding a perfect match out of a puegeot or something similar about 1600 cc

but first undo the riders right hand side cover and you will find a 4 pole connection that connects the fuel pump fuel sender etc ....quite often the poles become corroded and high resistance .....crimping the socket part is often a fix after cleaning the contacts areas .

but before you do mutch of anything please go to the portal page and read the info there ...in the section "so you just bought a k100 now what ?"

old fuel ....and contaminants usually suck up into the pump and fuel filter ....blocking it .

sad to hear that it happened so soon after your purchase ....

there are lots of threads to fuel pump replacement all through the forum ....just use the search feature

Hi Joe When you press the starter button do you hear the pump run for 1.5 seconds, it should do that.
If the pump works change the filter as the fuel being put in may have stired up some grunge and then it blocked the filter.
But go to the section Charlie said there is good info there.
