New to K bike ownership and have got a 1990 K75s.
When I got the bike the clutch was fine and very smooth the seller showed me documents showing it had been recently changed.
I went to set off the other morning and the clutch felt very stiff at the lever and when aI pulled on it the cable poped out at the lever.I thought that the side stand had.caught and this had caused the problem. I refitted the cable and the clutch worked fine still very smooth.
A day later i did a short trip in traffic and stopped for a couple of hours.I went to get back on the bike.made sure it was on the center stand and started it up.Pulled the clutch lever in and tue cable popped again. This happend every time i tried to fit the cable. The clutch arm felt stiff and almost too hard to be moved by a cable.I did free it off and adjusted the the bolt on the end of the arm but couldnt get the clutch to work the cable just kept coming out of the lever.
Am I missing something simple or is this a major job??

Check the Clutch arm(on the gearbox), it is mounted on a 8mm pin and if not lubricated can cause your symptoms, also could be your clutch adjustment, have a look in our download section for detail.

for the reply, however when moved the adjuster nut underneath, going into the rubber housing and slackend it off the arm moved a lot freeer, when I tightened it up again the arm went stiff as anything and refused to move, I will try the lubricating method as its booked into the garage on Tuesday.

Will have a look at the how to section thanks.

Disconnect the cable and see how the arm is, if it moves freely then there is no problem there. Check how free the cable moves in the outer and that will tell you if the problem is internal to the gearbox or in the cable.

The arm into the gear box appears to move freely.lots of wd40 ect. I refitted the cable which moves freely inside its casing. It just seems not to work and pops out at the lever. It feels like there is a small amount of slack then the feeling at the lever goes almost solid and the cable pops out. It is so very frustrating was hoping to ride it this weekend.I looked at the flutch adjustment.even followed the diagram via smart phone.could it be as simple as cable routing. i had this issue also just recently ..

i thought it was the lever as well , but turned out it was the cable

i got a cable injector tool for injecting aerosol spray ...i tried using teflon spray with no effect

but a lubricating fluid did the trick ...in this case i used lanoteck (similar to wd40 but is based on lanoline wool oil)

clutch is now smooth and easy to use ....funny it was a brand new part and only maybe 2 months since i installed it .......im thinking the liner was made many years ago and probably a poly propolene based plastic (which in our humid astmosphere deteriorates) for the moment everything is good ....but i will need a replacement to have on hand

in the process of the installation i had replaced the gland receiver in the clutch handle part (motobins )

Could you enlighten me on your 'cable injection tool'? My clutch cable's starting to get a little sticky.

My memory isn't the best anymore and a k75 may be differant anyway but this is worth throwing out there. I read somewhere that the barrel end of the cable can drop down at the handle perch causing a bind , I suppose till the cable actually pulls out of the barrel.

GOOD LUCK !!! hope this can help.
