Once again, very impressive work.
One thing I am not sure of is why you are clear coating everything?
Is it to make cleaning easier? Eliminate cleaning and just hose it off? Or is it to give you something to do next time you decide to restore the bike?
get well soon

Paul,
Of course I use cotton buds. I don't know why you would suggest anyone would use anything else. It's obvious.
And I find they work better with the tears of kittens. Just gives that extra little bit of a polish.
