How senile can you get ! Getting ready to do spline lube had a blond moment removing the battery and touched the pos terminal to earth with neg still connected cuasing dead short for a second. Completed the spline lube BUT am now sitting with an electrical problem. Dash lights come on ok but the moment you touch ANY of the other buttons ( starter, horn, lights, turn indicators) the dash lights go dim with a buzz sound coming from the fuse box. WHAT must I do now? I dont know much about electrical. PLEASE HELP !

Is the battery charged up? It may be as simple as a weak battery.

Yep charge the battery and check all the fuses. Actually its not a bad idea to replace the fuses with new ones as most are getting old and sometimes give problems without looking as if they are blown.

Thanks Club_C, Charlie99 and K Freak. I have checked my battery Voltage and it is 12.4v but the moment I put load on it, it drops to 6.4v so first thing to-morrow morning a new battery. Not part of my Christmass shopping budget so the grandchildren will have to wait for next year santa.

Ok, so it would appear the battery took a hit when you had that short, though it is possible it was weak before that anyhow. How old was the battery?

Ok, I see from your other post it's 6 years and 5 months old. I'd say you got your money's worth out of that one! And it was time for a change out anyhow.
