Hey, riders. Looking forward to reading up, as well as learning from everyone's experience and knowledge. I have a non-starting RS after I test drove it and dropped it. Feeling a bit stupid, but alas, I secretly wanted the thing anyways. After dropping, starter won't crank. Will post an update topic with questions that I have. Right now I'm about to start work. Chat later! Have an awesome day, if possible.

So for anyone interested, here are some details about me, the bike, etc.

It's in very nice condition and pretty dry underneath. A small amount of oil residue is present, no active leaks. I rode it, felt great! Then, doing a simple u-turn, I dropped it. I'm a pretty new rider, obviously over-confident. Oh well, it is what it is! I'm the proud owner of a new bike. In my life I've owned a '76 Honda Hawk CB400a (semi-automatic), and now a 2001 CB250 Nighthawk which I share with my brother, who is completely new to riding. I've been interested in it for years and rode on dirt when younger, but early this year I got way into it. I'm pretty mechanically inclined and have basic tools, but don't have a stand. And this is a heavy bike! I really like it and want to do it justice.

Sorry to Crazy Frog who I sent a PM. The auto message informed me I just need to post three times and I can get the downloads, which I'd love to check out. Anyways, after I dropped it, it wouldn't start back up. The kid mentioned it needed the choke for a while to stay running. Battery voltage is good, 12.4 V. Lights are bright, fuel pump spins while pressing start, then after one second, there is a click and a dimming of lights, then the one second cycle repeats after a very momentary pause, as long I hold start. However the starter does not turn. So, I'm assuming it's a loose connection or fuse. Now, little fuse box cover facing the left is missing (no huge problem, I found the fuse arrangement on a post here). However, the seat refuses to open. I struggled with that a bit. I haven't had a daylight hour to begin the tear down process officially but that's where I stand currently. If anyone has pointers, I'd love to hear about it. I'm excited but I'm well aware that this could be a rabbit hole. Oh well, it will all be worth it if I get it going. As a side note, the bike was priced at 1800 USD. It's cherry red.

Hmm, the Hawk Hondamatic might have been a 1978, can't quite remember. I had it for several years and it never ran great, but it was such a a cool bike IMO.

I got lucky, it was just the battery. I'm getting ready to take off a bunch of stuff so that I can check stuff. But I was happy when I took it off the charger and it spun right up, and I took it for a redemption ride. Such a fast, big bike. Love it.

Can anyone give tips on tune up procedures concerning valves? It has 30k miles. That's a job I've never done before. For now I'm going to start with checking/replacing hoses, clamps, spark plugs, oil, brake fluid, etc. The very basics.
