I am looking for a plug to fit the 3 wire diagnostic socket on a 16v K100, I think its the same size on the K1100 too..  The socket has holes for very small pins and so far I cant seem to find one. Anyone help please? I don't believe I am the only person that has come across this problem.

These normally have a blue blanking plug fitted. Is this what you are looking for ?

When diagnosing issues I normally use only 1 connecter, i.e. pin 1 is for Motronic, Pin 2 for ABS.

To see faults a 12v led is a good option. i.e. a led with resistor.

Lots of information on fault codes available if required.

Thank you Ringfad, I was looking for a 3 pin plug to fit the diagnostic socket so I can just plug in my home made tester, dont like to just use 3 pins that will push into it.

I can get a suitable size 3 pin plug to use.  Funny enough my blue cover is missing be nice to get one if you knoe where they are sold or what can be used in stead.

I have been searching various ETK and various models for the part number for BMW's three pin blue plug. If someone has one, have a close squiz at it for any indication of the last seven digits of a BMW part number, please. Ta.

Checked one of mine - Part no is 1459794 but can't find it listed anywhere.

Also checked a few looms to see if they have any plugs that fit the 3 pin diag. socket but unfortunately not.

The fuel/temp plug looks to be the same format but 4 pins instead of 3.

Edit - Just realised that it might be possible to put pins into the blanking plug, I will try and remove some  pins from one of the 4 pin plugs I have and report back.

Its a plug I need to use on the end of a tester so I can plug my tester in.

I have no idea where you will get a ready made plug but here is one option to make one.

1. Blanking Plug (with no pins) - normally with bike 



2. Connecter off old loom 4 pin - think it is for fuel/temp gauge - loose wire in this example



3. Tool for removing pins



4. Insert pins into blanking plug

What a genius, thank you. found a 3 pin plug like you show and have taken out the pins (checked the fit the socket) now got to find a blue blanking plug. Getting there slowly. thanks, Dave.

You missed a step Simon: throw tool into the bin because it fell to pieces on the first use. Guess how I know... I ended up buying a boxed set from a named manufacturer (Seeley? Can't remember and too lazy to go out and look).

It is still alive at the moment, but would not be suitable for frequent use.

Must look out for a more professional set.

Ringfad ~I have tried to get one but had no luck, If you do find you have a spare. I would gladly but it from you.  Regards Dave.

According to the .Gov.uk website, only things over £39 attract vat or any other charges.  If you want more than £39 I may have to re-think  LOL.

I managed to post it today when I was in N.Ireland 

Dai was right the tool fell apart.

Thanks will wait for the postman. Did not use or have the removal tool, just cut up the old plugs to get the pins.
