There's an "h" shaped hold-down held in by two 6x185mm Phillips head screws just above the battery, there may be the ECU atop that. I wouldn't want to take the top off the battery, what a mess that'd be, just access the pos & neg connections by lifting (if they're still there) the two plastic hingey bits above the terminals. Typically it's two 10mm spanners you'll need and you'll be laughing.

Why not use the aux power socket, Very quick and easy to plug in. If you dont have an Aux socket, just as easy to fit one as it is the charger socket. that way you can use it in the future for gps,  heatedclothing, usb charger....

I've fitted one to both BMWs and the Royal Enfield. No fiddling about - just keep switching the plug from bike to bike.

You have a new Royal Enfield twin, Dai?  I've been eying those beauties for a while.  Looks like a great bike for someone who is concerned about the weight of a K1100LT. If I can't find a nice R100R a new RE Interceptor may be in my future.

Bullet 500 single, not the Interceptor 650 twin. I did think about buying an Interceptor as the price difference isn't that great, but I used to own a Bullet whereas an Interceptor was something (at the time) that I could only aspire to. They still vibrate as badly as I remember... great up to about 50mph but when you get to 70mph, better start counting your fillings Twisted Evil

Now that we've hijacked this thread...

Dai, how is the reliability of Enfield's these days?

I saw thousands of them in India back in the 80's, but the people I talked to about them said they needed a lot of fussing over(we're being kind here) to keep them running(British design manufactured by Indians, after all). Still, the exhaust note. the clatter of the valve train and the authentic 50's look made me wish I could have brought one home with me.

There's a dealer in the next town, and someone on my road rides by on a white Continental GT on sunny summer days. Only thing holding me back is that one of my K's would have to go to make room in the garage.

Absolutely hammered them and they still came back for more. The export models (actually, all models I believe) are built to a much higher standard that you'll remember because they have to pass the various European regs which (again, I understand) are probably much more severe than US import requirements. As usual though, let down by hidden detail. It looks like the exhaust is sent out to be chromed, then when it comes back they weld on the sensor stubs etc.. Of course, that destroys the chrome so the welds are then painted silver. Net result? My silencer is already going rusty underneath where it's pop-rivetted together, painted over and where you can't see it. Spares supply is cheap, excellent and a lot of it is high-quality British-made. A new exhaust system complete is about £320.

Oh - and s/h, very, very low mileage bikes are bloody cheap. My guess is the rose-tinted spectacles are brought out, then they vibrate off the rider's nose in very short order.

A 500cc thumper with clip ons, rear sets, and bullet fairing is the way a real cafe bike should look.

It's a 2014 with ~1500 miles on it. Must be a real pleasure to ride. Laughing

I reckon that's a lot of miles for a cafe racer. Laughing
