Hi Flying Brick Aficionados
Here is my my Eddie Van Halen tribute build story.
Eddie was looking for unique sound when he started playing in the early 70’s and discovered it by adding Les Paul pickups (humbuckers) to his Boogie (Fender knock off) guitar.
Though he wasn’t much of an electrician he figured away to marry the two guitars to get the “sound”, he wanted.
Along with other crude modification he also designed a cool paint skim with a red base and black and white stripes. This was the inspiration for my paint.
Eddie was the premier “Axe Man” for my generation and changed the rock guitar sound forever.
With that story , I wanted to take the BMW and make into a modern Frankenstein. It has a stock 3 cylinder 750 motor, with fuel injection and a shaft drive (modern technology for the late 1980’s). I also upgraded it with a K1200 rear wheel, the front suspension and wheel are from a 2007 Honda CBR 600rr.
An interesting side not is that Eddie was half Dutch and half Asian.
I am not a professional mechanic by no means and learned a hell of a lot building this Bastard.
It took me 10 months to get it built and rideable
During the build I had no ideal Eddie would died from cancer and I feel that there something special here.
Thanks for looking and Ride & ROCK on !
