Not sure, but if they can be adjusted, it may require a stone and antler tool.

Include a picture so we can see for ourselves. Boge and Koni shocks of that era had at least a spring preload adjustment, and if you were lucky, damping adjustment, too.

That's a Nivomat, and a self-adjusting airbag of sorts. If it's flat it's cactus. There are still whizzes out there with the skills and knowledge. A quick ask of the Google Gods revealed several claiming insight.

Its working fine, I just imagined a BM shock would have adjustment and was surprised it didnt have any apparent means. Airbag makes sense, thanks

Read up on it now, looks like they were highly thought of 30 yrs ago when it was new, time for a replacement in the coming months methinks

There are several good choices out there. Lotsa folk here use Ram from UK, successfully, as well as Hagon. There's also Thai-built YSS, the very budget oriented Ikon, a Koni knock-off, and my current favourite is the Progressive Suspension 465 series. If you want to throw money at it try Wilbers or Ohlins.
