For some reason the shock on K1s is unqiue - Part 33532310512. I think it's a tad longer than the shock for the other 4V Ks (33532312257) but my K1 is in storage at the moment so I can't measure it.

Hi Duck

Looking at the 1991 BMW Press release it shows a different Spring Travel Rear - 140mm (k1) and 120 mm (RS). Maybe that explains the part number change. My understanding is that all 16v shocks are the same length.

Anybody know why K1s have a unique shock? Bmw_pr10

Speaking of rear shocks.......the YSS Z series on my K1100LT is now officially dead, it has become a pogo stock so new shock needed. Not having any other 16v bikes......what happens if I take one off a K100, apart from being slightly shorter?

Not being a MC suspension expert, what does that mean?  That it's a got a "lighter" shock?  That would make sense since the K1 is more or less a 1-up bike and only has enough rear luggage capacity for a beer on each side.
