Mid 1985 the Ks changed. They all look the same but are not. The 1983 to 1985 models have different fuel tanks, seats, panels, footpegs as well as some internal bits such as seals and shafts in the oil/water pump.

I use www.realoem.com/bmw a lot for parts research. Search your particular motorbike, click on the blue highlighted part number, and up will come which other bikes that part number fits. It's best to drill down into each catalogue to verify it suits your needs. Often the supersession chain can be drilled down further for compatibility.
