Hello all

Just want to confirm some thing
An engine number of
104EA14892162
Means

10 means 1000cc
4 means cylinders
EA is the european std
14 is the 14 week of the year
89 is the year

So is this a 16 valve or 8 valve ?

if its an lt could well be still an 8 valve

they sold them for years after the 16 valve rs versions hit the road
just unsure when the 16 valve lt became the only alternative ….rick could have a better idea

just a heads up

If the air box has been removed, look at the front of the engine and the cam chain cover.  There is a screw in the center of the cover(parts #3 and #4) on the 16v engines that is not present on the 8v engines.

That screw covers a hole where a tool is inserted as part of the procedure to reassemble the cams when doing the valve clearances.

Engine number B0000132
