Hi guys,

Do these leads 'wear out'/break down over time?  Or can I measure their resistance to test somehow?

Just wondering if I'll need to replace the originals on my bike.

If the wires aren't giving you problems at the moment, don't fix them.

My Brick has been fitted with NGK resistor caps and leads for the last twenty years. A mate's auto electrician son  got another two sets about 10 years ago for I believe $70.00 a set. I have a set as spare, but never needed so far.

Heed the warnings on fitting non resistor caps leads and plugs. I had a local ex BM tech tell me I should also run resistor plugs in conjunction with resistor leads. I gave it a go for one set and it didn't make any difference in the bikes running or in the colour of the plugs. So I am back on non resistor NGK plugs.  Rob may help with why he suggested this approach. 

There are two types of NGK caps applicable to the Brick a 90 deg and a 45 deg angle. In OZ I can't run Bosch plugs due to the fact that they are not available with the screw off end caps, which NGK leads require. I've had no problems with NGK plugs.

I just thought I would add this. A mate with four bricks has had trouble removing OEM leads. The metal caps had corroded onto the spark plugs and the plugs and caps were destroyed on removal. Has this been a problem for any other inmates.

Sorry Martin. I didn't make any suggestions. I pointed nods to an existing page on K100-forum with answers to his question. I wouldn't recommend running resistor-caps and resistor-plugs either.

I've never encountered corroded caps or difficulty removing/installing them on any of the Bricks I've owned or helped with.

Isn't there a recommended resistance range where the K100 plug leads are still good?

Thanks Rob on two of the mates plugs the only way he was able to get the leads off was to actually break the porcelain on the plugs. I don't think was able to ever get the remains of the plug out of the cap. The bike was running but the caps were badly corroded.
