It appears so Rick!

The bike is a 95 K1100rs (see new avatar) with 90k miles on it. I picked it up for a song over Christmas with forum help from Olaf. It has a few issues to sort out. The first being a dicky ignition (done) and the second rough running/missing at lower revs which seems like poor spark to me so I'm suspecting plugs and/or leads but I want to get the right combo as I've picked up resistor plugs locally. I haven't got the old set out, the weather here is too cold and damp for the shed at present but I'd like to have it all to hand once I start.

I've just looked at a couple of youtube tutorials on how to measure Ohms with the DMM as Kaptain H. suggested so I think I can do that ok.

The K1100 is not as prone to system leaks as a K100 but might pay to check the O-rings under the manifold rubbers as they do on occasion get old and hard (we wish) and leak.

I'd agree with that... for starters,
but more likely to be a crook lead or SP rather than mismatched resistance.

You can use your DMM to test your SPs as well. A non-resistor plug should read very low resistance of about 3ohm and resistor plugs about 5k ohm. Anything outside that and they're failing or kaput.

Thanks Charlie. I was looking at them online yesterday. I think I'll be keeping my hand in my pocket till I get tyres sorted first if I can get away with it. Budgetary constraints and all that!

A short while ago I picked up a K100 16v with an intermittent running problem. The guy I bought it from had swapped allsorts of parts but the problem persisted. I looked over the bike but found nothing wrong, the bike ran OK for ages and then one day it's on two cylinders.
I spent all morning fiddling about and in frustration I decided to move the bike away from the garage because of exhaust fumes. When I grabbed the lift handle it slipped from my grip thumping back into the frame......the bike fired on four again!
That little occurrence led me to look at the wiring that ran inside the frame near the lift handle and it turned out to be the loom that had a break inside the insulation. I still use that loom on my K100 track bike and it's never given any trouble since.

It's worth a look and good luck,
Mike.
