Ok spent the day with Malcolm

Have the mild steel prototype unit with oversized inlet pipe to check angles. Some modifications on the cluster of the inlets to better suit the pipes natural layout so it wont be the stock standard square pattern of most collectors but closer to the natural pipe layout of a k100.

He is happy to take orders for anyone who would like one.
Note the outlet length on the stock unit will be 40mm longer for those who like short pipes and you will need cut it down to suit if you want it shorter or advise Malcolm.
Prices are very good.

Stainless with outlet pipe to suit 54mm ID(note you can pick another size but it will add some cost as these will be hand made items).

Remember its a hand made item so any additional requirements can be arranged. Perhaps spring hoops and so on.

$160 NZD plus freight.
This is approx. 140USD or AU dollars plus freight or 85 UK Pounds.

Contact details

 malcdel@xtra.co.nz

Please include K100 collector as a Title as xtra emails tend to spam out untitled emails easily.

K100 collector Sany0511

K100 collector Sany0512

Note added this here.
This is only a mild steel trial.
Seem in collector will be at the back.
Headers require cut 2inches forward of the gear change shaft.
Will post a finished product photo when complete and mounted.

Can do.
Malcolm is a retired collector maker for cars.
Hes doing this work from home and seems to love the idea of making these hence the low prices.
Ill keep update on this thread and bike build thread.

And here it is.
Malcom is happy to do either the bent up end for rearset owners or a straight set for original peg owners. Both are same price $160 NZD.
He has the parts constructed to assemble 5 more so flick him a email if you require one.

Yes he will ship anywhere.

Best email Malcom direct.
Its his project making them I only helped him develop one so I could have one.
He is a retired guy working from home after years in the industry hence the low prices.
I think hes enjoying the motorbike side of it as he was making collectors for cars.

I agree, it's a very nice piece.
I've a question.  Is the diameter of the end-pipe a sort of standard, such it would accept  a large number of generic silencers?  I'm thinking street applications now.  I'm no fan of loud pipes for street use, but there seems to be a bit of weight savings to be enjoyed if the OEM silencer is replaced.

The end pipe is 2" external  50.7mm
You can request different sizes or adaption sleeves.
Remember these are hand made items so anything you require can be sorted but you would need discuss with Malcolm if that involves extra costs.

Good stuff. Must have one, but 'malcdel@xtra@xtra.co.nz' as a valid address has some strangeness going on. I've tried it, it was rejected, tried it again, dropping the extra '@xtra' to see if I get a response from him. Anyone else manage to get through to the gent? Cheers.

malcolm@xtra.co.nz

Yes others have contacted I think he said he had 3 to make at this stage.
I have seen he had 5 lots prepared for welding but was waiting for outlet request before starting as smaller outlet requires slightly different cone shape prior to pressing onto the top jig.

Note I think link will drop the .nz  off the end

An email response was received from Malcolm from the email address without the extra @xtra added. So that's one's a good'un.

Now we have one more collector being added to the list to be fabbed up and when they're ready to be posted to me in the States for a tres kewl K project I've got going.

I'll let you know how it's going.

Malcolms supply has been steady and he informs me he has more ready to assemble and weld when required. At this stage a dozen sold.
He will soon be looking at replacement header pipes in balanced lengths with or without collectors. With collectors will be a one piece unit and have no clamps and without will be made to suit a collector for those that have already purchased one. Possibility of a K75 collector coming in the future when we find a sample pipe.

could I add something here

if malcolm is attempting to make tuned length header pipes ...could I suggest please that he considers  incorporating some form of join between the pipes and the collector ...as we have seen on many k1100 bikes that the pipes fracture after a period of time ...which differs vastly from k100 setups with clamps etc around the pipe to muffler area

just a thought... I hope makes it to the design stage

dave doesn't the k75 have brilliant collector arrangement already ?   scuse me if I missed something

I agree about the K75.  No real need to reinvent the wheel with that bike.  Equal length pipes into a free-flowing and quiet silencer that does a pretty good job of getting the hp out of the motor.

Dunno how youve gotten on...

But I emailed Malcolm today and got a reply 5 mins later.

He is still selling them, $200 Kiwi Dollars - Ive asked for a pic of the 'final' version, and for confirmation thats its stainless and weather r not their is the option for various exit angles for the muffler mount join - no response as yet.

Any members have one of these particular collectors?

What mufflers are you hooking up??

Additionally, in response to your question above - THESE GUYS (LINK) are selling k100 exhaust collectors too. Only slightly cheaper than the BSK one - but I dare say that Ben @ BSK sells a better quality item than the one Ive just linked to. The guys in the link (Cafe4Racer) have a few other slightly interesting bits for K custom work, but unsure of the quality v cost balance....many of their other products are just Chinese items to be found on ebay for a fraction of the cost (instruments for example) - but obviously the collector is a custom manufactured piece....

Yes, as shown in the posts above, and in my picture below, we are using Malcolm's collector. I've got a 9" Delkevic can attached on my 'BBK' and it slips on effortlessly but snugly, is slim and attractive (how nice!). It works as hoped and planned for and is of excellent quality, especially for the money (I drilled a hole and welded in a bung for an O2 sensor). Any 50mm/2" inlet will work with the correct mounting strap location. The two 6mm holes for the pannier Z frame on the passenger's peg extension are ideal for the upswept version. I'd enquire next time about a more traditional exhaust upsweep, or lack thereof, for my 'stock' K100 exhaust position.

Hey Mossy,
Thanks for the update. My new to me K1 needs a lot of exhaust work and this could be the answer. I would like to retain the oem muffler as I like to keep my bikes looking original however the thought of cutting out the cat and freeing the note a bit does sound appealing...
I will email Malcom and see what he suggests.

Just going over some older threads and wanting to update that Malcolm's KolleKtor is doing its job down there since day one, as good as they get!

K100 collector 20170910

The only difference from early days is that I'm using a quieter, 14" long Delkevic cannister, and the stainless has slowly morphed into a wonderful brass-like finish.

Oh well,
No reply at that email address either. Might have to look somewhere else.
Any recommendations?
Sean.

Sean, why not try a PM to Mossy1200 as he seemed to have visited Malcolm in person up the top of the thread and was still posting last December.

Failing that I'm working on a scheme to be in NZ early next year for a little ride - maybe we can find him.

Cheers

The BSK units, tho' still 'pricey', have come down heaps in the past several years.

Facebook has another mob... Cafe4Racer or something. I'll have a look at them too.
Cheers,
Sean.

Yes I've seen the exhasut eggspurts. I might give them a call.
