I noticed two drops of oil on the floor.

I then took off the lower faring (we call it snowplow).

The buttom of the engine was greasy and there was sand stuck to the oil. I cleaned everything up.

Defenetly oil coming out of the hole (but not very much and nothing like covered back wheel). However I haven't ridden very much since the leak.

Secondary I can't yet 100 % determine if there is oil from the sump. Need more riding.

I'm waiting till winter to fix it one way or the other.

If its coming from that hole it means taking he gear box off and then you would do both seals.

If there is no smell you will know its engine oil, gearbox oil has a strong smell.

I very much guess it will last to the winter and longer.

In a bike shop winter there is not as much work and you might get a better price for doing it there.

Me too.  I'll even throw in the parts for free.

Are you SURE?  A few small parts from BMW can cost more than a plane ticket. Heck, you could probably charter a Lear Jet and still cost less than BMW parts.

Doesn't quite make sense with a leaking output shaft seal.

Degrease the sump, and check for leaks at engine drain plug, oil filter cover
and water/oil pump weep hole.

Parts from Motobins are reasonable.

The big ticket item is clutch friction plate and they vary a lot in price. But you will find all clutch plates are made by clutch plate manufacturers, some are specifically for car or bike manufacturers and labelled accordingly. Some however they just make to the same standard and specification and sell on the market for a much lesser price but same product and these can be the best ones to get. Others just manufacture something similar.  I got a clutch plate made by Sachs and it will be fine.

The seals and O rings should be BMW though, but they are not expensive.

There's also the 7mm high tensile clutch bolts Olaf. Had to buy those in Oz because I forgot to add them to my Motorworks order. They were a bit pricey for bolts. Seal, o-ring, bolts, crankshaft nut, spline lube, brake fluid.... I think all up it was about AU$100. My clutch plate was OK

The genuine friction disc from BMW is made by Sachs.

I knew Sachs make the clutches for a lot of car manufacturers and wasn't sure on the K so that's good to know. The BMW badge on the box comes at a high price.

The bolts I got with the clutch plate as a separate item, they are a single use bolt. I went on the basis of having everything to hand and guess its the only way.

As I was in there, I replaced clutch rod boot, drive shaft boot, the clips to go with them. I had no idea what I would meet but as it turned out they were both split and it was good to have the parts there. If you do take off old ones clean them at your leisure and put them in your parts bin.
