well back on subject... perhaps
regarding the ignition switch
.
I'm thinking there is little reason not to consider adding a relay into the electrics box
heres my reason for suggesting this
like we do for headlights and big load thingys ...to relieve the current travelling through them ...well, now quite ageing connectors and switches
wouldn't it be an advantage to move the switching device way back to where the conductors and connectors are somewhat protected ?
my thoughts are to interrupt the return from the ignition switch to the loom with a substantial relay ./
this would remove some voltage drop ...and more importantly relieve the switching currents from the master ignition switch ? .
down sides would be just a few tens of milliamps extra current whilst active
upsides ..1>the protection of the contacts of the switch as now its only just turning on a relay current
2> gives a great antitheft location for activation of the electrical system via some form of proximity, swipe . rfid card reader, rf radio remote etc which could control the relay
3 > non documented electrical interruption device ..that might baffle some potential thieves for ever.
4> the ability to remotely locate the switch from the extent of the cable length
the night light parking feature should and could remain the same and unaffected as it doesn't really have a big load across the switch in current
terms ..maybe a few watts ? but not really significant
food for thought at least ...and will be implemented on my next build ....who knows what will be happening with all the stuff I learned from this great resource in "the forum "
