Well I haven't even started the project yet and I've stumbled on my first hurdle - trying to mount the second hand K1100 centre stand I bought from Motorworks.
I can only guess that they've sent me the wrong Supporting Bracket, as seen in the K1100 repair manual diagram:
It just doesn't seem right to me that the circlips on the outside of the Sleeve (part 5) should push up hard against the stand. I would have thought the Sleeves would tighten up hard against the Supporting Bracket, inside the recess there for them, and the circlips would have some play against the centre stand. I envisage the Sleeves being fixed, with the Centre Stand rotating around them.
I can see from the diagram that Motorworks have not included (part 12) Shackle for the side stand, so I have nothing to attach the two springs to...
And now that I'm writing this and looking at the diagram again, I can see that yes indeed, the Supporting Bracket is the wrong type - it looks different in the picture
Having said all that - is there anything wrong with mounting it the way you can see in the last two pictures, without the cirlips? It's not like it can fall off.
Any feedback is appreciated. Cheers guys.
