Hey K-family,

Finally I have time to work on my k100 again. It has been too long and I am on my way to getting the old girl on the road. 

I have one last problem.. It won't start.

I press the start button, it turns over to the point of sounding like it will start and then just stops. Then the fuel pump kicks in.. and I retry the process..

The only way I can get it to start cold (and when I say cold the temp here is average 30 degrees C) is to use aerostart up the air intake. When it has eventually started It runs very well. 

Help?

- It has a new battery
- new leads and plugs
- injectors cleaned
- new fuel
- fuel filters and pump checked.

Recheck/replace the fuel filter.

Check the coolant sensor. Measure resistance across pin #10 and #13 on the FICU plug counting pin spaces from the lead end. Should be somewhere around 2.0 kilohm at 30oC

Thanks heaps for the read. 

It is a weird one, that I think is pointing to a loose inception in the ECU or ICU.. whatever one is the silver box under the seat. 

I went out to start trouble shooting and the thing works completely fine, starts every time.. maybe the bike knew I was reading forums.  Anyway, I took the plug off and gave it a good clean and made sure it was seated correctly anyway. 

- I am not a fan of stuff just starting to work.. because it may just decide to stop working.. ha

Yeah I know how you feel. Intermittant electrical problems are the worst kind, you never really know if they are fixed and your waiting for the next time they stop in the middle of an intersection.

I have discovers that the plastic retainer for the plug, on the silver unit under the seat, can crack and give an intermittent fault as in cut out or not start. Took me a while to discover that as I had another fault at the same time. If a K cuts out after going over a bump the fuel plug connector to the fuel tank [especially early Ks with bolt on tank] and that plug under the seat must be the prime suspects.
