Go to Motorworks and type 16111455331 into the search bar at the top. Only available used. You will have to contact them and see if they have any in stock.

Good luck.

I took this photo some time ago for another forum member......if you can copy and scale it so that the ruler is 6" long, it should give you the profile of the originals.

Many times parts listed as NLA do exist somewhere in the inventory of some dealer somewhere on the planet.  If you contact a dealership with competent personnel in the parts department (like Ride West or Irv Seaver) they have the ability to do an inventory search for discontinued parts that still may be available for sale somewhere.

I have obtained lots of NLA parts this way.

I went through this exercise about two months ago here in Canada and was quoted as much as $110 each per pad only to find out that they weren't available. It seems that in the last several months BMW Motorrad is reducing or obsoleting parts for the K100 and that vintage of models from their catalogue. There is a good source for reproduction parts from a gentleman in Switzerland at https://bmwbike.com/. It may be costly and not particularly timely but available.

It seems that custom cutting pads is the most cost effective way to get knee pads at this point.

Elenemtalfire- I looked on the website you mentioned and a set of pads are approx $180 (australian) which is as good as it gets price wise, so if my tracing/cutting efforts look crap they could be an option

Cheers

Glad to hear they arrived - hopefully in good order.

I have no idea how they are attached to the tank - how are you proposing to make yours stay put?

Not sure Doug - 3M makes a spray on glue like rubber cement - I will buy some and try it on another surface and see how it goes

I can vouch for StompGrip as they transformed my riding. The feeling of connection is empowering and does a ton for control and overall ease. You may want to consider these, as 30+ y.o. pads will be grossly inferior in both material and design.

Universal fit or find one that's close enuff, as the K's tank has a lot of real estate to work with. Just a thought.

I've used a spray contact adhesive on a few bits and pieces over the years and found it works just as well as anything else.  It also has the advantage of being easy to remove overspray with a rag soaked in turps which doesn't damage paint surface if washed off with soapy water after treatment.

Want something to stick the pads for good... go talk to a car (oh the shame) windscreen fitter and ask for the goop they use to fix the interior mirror onto the windscreen.......guaranteed not to let go..... just make sure you fit and align the pads correctly. Very Happy

Or the stuff for bonding the windscreen to the car. It's not easy to shift that stuff when it sets.

Bostick SealNflex or Sikaflex (which is twice the price) is the stuff. Make sure to clean any silicone polish from the tank using prepsol and clean the pads with acetone or prepsol.
Draw on the tank the outline of the pad where it is to be then put a small bead of the glue on the pad and mount it on the tank then without moving it tape it in position and leave for a min of 24 hours to cure.
Once it has cured it is permanent so take care to position it correctly. it can be removed using turps up till about 4 hours and clean up with turps.

The best stuff to use, IMHO, for securing moldings, pads, roundels, & etc., is 3M 08008 in black, or the gorilla snot version, p/n 08001, in yellow. I use it on the Airhead engine emblems. It even takes the heat and petrol dripping on it from leaking petcocks.

You are 100% correct. This is the stuff my paint guy has been using for 20 years on tank planks on various bikes
