Hi Guys, now my cd drive wont read my k100 manual disc, I need to know whether I have to remove the swinging arm in order to replace the drive boot. If i remove the shaft, is there sufficient room to get at it .
Thanks
Bob

You have to remove the drive shaft housing to access the boot. You will not be able to access the boot by just removing the rear differential and drive shaft.

There is no way to remove the forward rubber accordian boot without first removing, or sufficiently pulling back, the swingarm and final drive on a Monolever K (as an assembly is easier).

Having just finished this exact project as I swapped gearboxes I can say it's not much more work to get the swing arm assembly vs just the diff and shaft only four more bolts.

Thanks guys,
It will give me the chance to inspect the swing arm bearings .
Do the pivot arms need replacing at higher mileages, or can I expect them to last , providing they are lubricated and the  bearings are good.
I can also check the spline lube and inspect the clutch actuating mechanism whilst the "back end " is off.
Bob
