Howdy folks,
Im wondering if anyone knows what changes there were to the K100 forks through the model run.
The reason Im asking, is because I recently ordered a new Wilbers rear shock, and while I was in the spending mood I thought Id better replace the fork springs too. However, my stanchions are a little pitted which is making the seals weep a little, so Iwent along and oredered a set of Wilbers stanchions too. Hey, its only money
Anyway, shock & forks springs arrived fine, but Im unsure if they sent me the right stanchions. My bike is a 1990 K100RS 16v. The stanchions turned up marked for a K100RS 83-89. Now you & I know thats the 8v model, but the supplier reckons its right.
If you look at this pdf file, the ones they sent me were 590-165-06, whereas I think it should be 590-643-01 but the dates for this is 91-93.
Could it be that the forks on my '90 16v are the same as the early 83 on forks, and BMW only changed the forks in '91??
I know I could borrow a vernier guage at the weekend and check the sizes 41.3mm (early) 41.65 (later), but maybe someone on this forum might have some data or a spec sheet?
Regards
