1 Problem with flasher relay Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:28 pm

My indicators started behaving very eratically over a period of a day. There was no pattern to their behaviour and then they stopped working altogether.
One of the first things I checked were bulbs then fuses. All bulbs ok. Fuse #3 and #7 were blown. I replaced those and they blew again.
I then removed all bulbs including the flasher bulbs in the instruments and the flasher relay unit itself. There was no short to earth. I've also visually checked all the wiring and connectors front to rear. All looks good
I checked both left and right indicator switches on the bars as well as the cancel switch. All function perfectly.
After putting everything back together without the flasher relay, all works fine (no indicators of course) and fuses don't blow. Reinstall the flasher relay and fuses blow again.
My conclusion is that the flasher relay is fritzed.
Have I troubleshooted this problem correctly or have I missed something?
I've found a relay online for $40 plus frt. Is this an ok price?
