I have a confession to make.

Sadly, I have been enjoying riding my bike so much that I have forgotten to take any photos whatsoever of me anywhere on it. In the ten weeks since I passed my test I have covered two and a half thousand miles and have not even been on it every day!

* note to self - take some bloody pictures.

Olaf - My problem is I take too many pictures and you sure get a lot of pictures from a 6 - 7 hour ride, recording at 30fps (64 Gbytes worth). I do stop occasionally for some higher quality DSLR shots too. It doesn't take too many rides to fill my Macbook hard drive completely.

Grizzly - by way of penance, I think you should go to the "Lets Play Tag" post - and then ride immediately to the nearest landmark that is the subject of the current "tag" (possibly still space ground station) and take a pic of your bike with said landmark in the back ground. You then ride to a new landmark of your choice (can be pretty much anything - but bear in mind the readership is totally global and something too niche will exclude participation, although many wily members can use some cunning word association to get round such issues e.g. I don't think there are many castles in Australia ...however, they could add a photo next to a Castlemaine beer can or a sand castle etc.). Lets Play Tag is all about having an excuse to get out and ride, perhaps to somewhere different and show off pics of your bike and locality.Very Happy

Thinking about it....Jodrell Bank must be very close to you and is perfect for the current challenge if you can get your bike in shot!

I've gone and done it again. Got a new rear tyre sorted on Saturday and have been off to a meeting today in Liverpool so decided to use 'Kylie', only problem being I still haven't remembered to take any pictures whilst out and about!

Sad

If I don't remember before then, I'll try and either get some myself or get my friend to take some in a few weeks when we are both doing a one day 'Bike Safe' course in North Wales.

Since passing my test and finding that I cannot assist yet with the local Blood Bike group, I have been very busy doing some marshalling for various charity events, cycle road races, running events and also the odd motorbike rides.

On quite a few occasions I was actually marshalling cycle races around the lanes near Jodrell Bank in the evenings but never actually got a chance to get a picture of my bike with the HUGE radio telescope in the background.

My bike now has quite a few extra lights on it to hopefully be seen and not driven in to whilst taking part in these events and also quite a bit of reflective markings too. Most recently added is a rear light pole which is fitted to my home made topbox bracket along with a rear lighting pod incorporating rear ambers and reds which double as fog lights.

As soon as I get the photos from my phone onto either my laptop, or t'interweb somewhere else, I shall try and post some on here.

Until then, apologies once again for not getting any of me on my bike.

And another one!

Thankfully with both of those you can't see my face as many of you would be scarred for ever if that happened.

Sadly, whilst waiting at a roundabout on the first of February, I was rear-ended by a car. The result being flung off my bike and landing on the kerb itself with my left elbow and breaking it. I also injured my left wrist very severely and only just now am I able to once again pull a clutch lever in.

The bike was assessed and declared a category 'C' write-off which means that it can go back on the road, but the cost of new panels, paint and fitting exceeds the value of the bike.

I have the 'salvage rights' for the bike and now have it back in my possession (eventually, after nine weeks!) but whilst strapping it down into my trailer to bring it home I did not feel at all comfortable on it, so am sadly and reluctantly looking to sell it. It will shortly be listed on eBay and I will post the item number on here. If anyone is interested in buying it in the meantime, please feel free to get in touch either on here or contact me on 07712347133

Bike is located near Bolton, Lancashire and could quite honestly go back on the road with only a few things needed. The majority of the damage was cosmetic.

Sad

Just realised too that it's been soo long since I was last on here that I hadn't updated much. Since the end of August last year I had been working as an 'emergency medical courier rider' (basically like a 'blood biker' but getting paid and also transporting a wider range of medical equipment and notes) and between August and the day of my crash I had covered just over eleven thousand miles on my bike.

The most annoying thing is, five days before the crash I had just had a brand new tyre fitted on the rear and the week before that I had to buy a new battery.

Sorry to hear your news Grizzly.

A familiar tale to many of us and, sadly, the official cost of repairs does often result in a insurance write-off. The physical and psychological injuries do take a bit of getting over, but stick with a decent physio and hopefully you'll make a full recovery.

After my car induced off a couple of years back, when I picked up my "new" bike, I was more concerned that I would be too nervous to ride it and was convinced, that until I was back to full strength, I would probably drop it when pulling on and off the centre stand. I'm glad to say I have had no problems with either issue. Certainly makes you a more cautious rider for a few months though when you have experienced how quickly things can go wrong, even when you are doing nothing wrong (like waiting at a roundabout). It also makes you think hard about the true value of those few seconds saved by filtering, that odd (slightly) reckless overtake, that squirt of gas to get you through the traffic lights as they go amber rather than braking and waiting etc. They all seems like a good bike thing to do that save you a little time, until it all goes wrong and then you lose months (or worse).

Best of luck with your recovery and bike sale.

In some ways the psychological damage is worse than the physical damage to the bike. After I crashed LFB in January I'd freak out at the slightest sign of anything resembling slidey-stuff on the road and always freak out at the bend I crashed on, whether the road was wet or dry. Three months later I'm just about back up to 'speed' again.

I have just had one of those real ironical 'I-don't-believe-it' moments. I was remembering how I dealt with a crash back in my twenties; I knew that once I could fold my leg up enough to get back on the accident bike I was going to be scared sh!tless. Well, I was scared sh!tless - but only because I took the bike out and thrashed it half to death until I was no longer afraid of it. Having recalled that, I also remembered that it was the other time I came off at 55mph and walked away from it... Getting There! - Page 2 44271

I'm not suggesting you thrash the K to death - that's difficult. What really annoyed me over the last three months was that if I was just riding and not thinking, it was like nothing had ever happened. Then the brain would wake up, the lymph glands would kick in and everything would go to hell in a handcart.

Try another bike? One without the crash association?

If anyone is interested the K100 is now on eBay due to needing funds. It's on a short listing so, if you're interested, you better be quick.

Item number is 201674772664

I have got myself back onto a bike now, but have got an ex-police ST1100 Pan European which is lovely to ride and rather a different experience to the K
