Since I have yet to actually take and pass my motorbike test, this is the closest I have actually got to riding it!

Yes, the screen was already fitted. All that is missing from the picture are the panniers which I'd taken off for easier access to the back wheel while I do some little jobs on it.

Got my theory test today actually and even though I've been driving many different types of cars and vans for the last twenty-two years I am quite anxious about it. Not because of fears of not getting a pass, but because it's the first test I have had to take for years and it is something I really want!

That feeling of all dressed up and nowhere to go.....

Best of luck though, the wait is worth it. A k is just simply something else.

Well that's the theory test done and dusted.

Pass mark for the multiple choice is 43 and I got all 50 correct. The hazard perception test has a maximum of 75 and the pass mark is 44. I got 63 and am kicking myself for missing twelve of them!

Went for an assessment ride with a training school this afternoon and hopefully I will be starting the course next week.

Oh and I already know how nice and smooth my bike rides as I might of happened to have a ride of it already last year when my friend first bought it and then possibly a couple of weeks ago when I got it off him. On private property of course.

Training course is booked. Module 1 test is booked as is the module 2 (but not too close that if anything goes wrong with the first one I can't re-book!) so hopefully I'll be off on it by the end of the month!

All I have to do first is get the rear braking, or lack of, sorted out to get the MoT and once I have passed my test I will get the insurance paid and then will probably wait until Monday the 1st of September to get the road tax. That's if I can bear waiting for the extra few days anyway!

Nope. It's a Continental. When it stops throwing it down I might go outside and find more details of it.

I will be looking at getting new tyres sorted but will have to wait for a while after spending a fair bit on my licence, insurance, MoT, tax, oh and buying the wife a new bike with less than a mile on it! It's only a 125cc but hopefully we will be picking it up in just over a week once the dealership has got it registered and checked over.

 Cool

How do they restrict it?

WHen I got my licence at 16 and 9 months I was limited to 250cc for 2 years. They have since chamnged the law and its now based on power to weight ratio rather then engine capacity or kw

They just put massive washers in the air intake, he wouldnt go about 90mph and was so much better on fuel.....when i passed it was 33bhp they had to be restricted to. First years insurance was pretty steep at £500 third fire and theft!

Loving riding my bike but didn't enjoy the ride last night that much.

Had to go to a meeting near Preston and decided that it would be quicker, cheaper and more fun to go on the bike. However, what I didn't realise it was going to rain quite as badly as it did! I finally got home totally soaked but still grinning. Didn't want to risk wrecking my phone taking any pictures though.

🇳🇴

Shortly I have to pop to Blackburn to pick something up, so if my jacket and pants are dry yet I may well go on the bike.

Wink

I think you're the closest one to me on here although I did spot a rather nice K on a driveway near my friends house between Leigh and Culcheth the other but didn't have chance for a closer look and have not seen it there since.

Apologies for not posting any pictures of my K, but I have been too busy riding her!

I have always given my vehicles names after driving them for a short time to find out what would suit them best and I can now announce that my K100 shall henceforth be known as 'Kylie'.

Since I past my test two weeks ago I have now put almost four hundred miles on the clock and have not even been out on her every day. I am indeed finding her a good ride. And that is something that my wife doesn't seem to mind!

On a more serious note you should really match the red of the other wheel. If you know the seller enough to ask why paint and colour is your best bet. If not then bring the bike to someone like a spray painter and they may be able to help. If you are doing it yourself [not a great idea] then get the colour mixed for you unless you can find something really close. Given that you don't want to be off road and you have to take off the tyre give a thought to getting another rear wheel and painting that. Then swap them over and sell of the current rear wheel, or put it storage for next time you go playing with the sheeps. Rear wheels are easy to do, no wheel bearings or fittings on them.

Current events were rather neatly explained with this 'we' from earlier. Snod rides behind to watch your ass. But your interpretation on the meaning of this seems to have differed significantly from his.

Really glad to see it has all worked out and its been a nice lighter side to the forum. If you don't make it over for the 19th then you two have to come over next year. I am sure you would enjoy some camping here too.

Ha ha Razz And yeah its going well, we both really wernt expecting to find someone on here, i know i was just after advice on keeping Bikey healthy! Been brilliant to find someone i have so much in common with though and have so much fun with. Started applying for jobs near him so fingers crossed! ive applied for one job thats £24000 a year, i said to snod that thats enough for us to live on and for me to buy a new k100 every month (he said yes dear so im sure i can Razz)

Its not looking good for the 19th, my aunt is off to Mexico for two weeks on the 20th leaving me to look after the horse the cat and the elderly poodle in addition to the house (which could be pretty fun for me and snod Wink ) you guys need to com,e to Wales! We are thinking of doing the Dragon rally together next year but may be on the 250's if snod gets his way! If not we will definitely get to the next meet, both of us!

Sad if you don't make it but these things are meant to be sort of informal, go if you can but no pressure if it doesn't happen.

Up Leicester way you are spoilt for some great ride outs, once you start heading east for Grantham Water, Oakham and Stoke Dry or down into Northampton. Since romance seems to have set in 'Yes dear' Rutland Water on a sunny day is to be enjoyed.

We have some nice camp sites over here and if you venture this far next year then a meet up can happen. Not sure about next year plans at the moment except that 88KE and myself seem to be hatching a plan to head for France in June for a camping trip.

The road near him do seem to be more sheep free but are not as fun and scenic as mine! Hopefullly we will do the Lakes or something while i am housesitting. 'yes dear' is only used occasionally, when either one of us knows arguing is futile Razz i use it when he says he will find a beer i like! It is very romantic, just riding out on the Ks together and then finding somewhere in the middle of nowhere to stop together and just cuddle and stuff Razz still havnt completely converted him to camping but he is rather impressed that i can put it up and take it down all by myself Razz and it is a four man tent with a porch so its nice and roomy! France sounds interesting, only passed through it last time. ive always fancied Ireland though. plus my step brother is over there somewhere so we have somewhere we could sleep!

Becky,

So far we have had a good meet up at Stradbally on the weekend after our August bank holiday weekend. Our August bank holiday is the first Monday in August. 3rd August next year. So Stradbally is likely to be 8th August, good time for you to come over. Hopefully we would make that a camping weekend. If you go to www.norevalleypark.com its where a few of us like and its very bike friendly. Snod might like it, you can get to bottle feed the lambs and the fawns.

Sounds really good! Sure we will make it with that much notice! Saw my mechanic today, he was very reassuring about Bikeys up and coming MOT, said he knows most of him works most of the time so he should be fine Razz He also said he couldnt believe he has never had the clutch replaced (think that means im due another at some point in the next 10000miles lol). Also told me that the wheels wont be too hard to repaint and he will supervise if i want Razz

Just be aware that if you do the Dragon next year - and then the '16 Dragon - you'll be on a terrible spiral of addiction. Next year will be my 28th or 29th Dragon Rally...

That's why you need to come over for our trip. We have routes set up by K riders so we don't have to do 20 point turns on narrow streets. In Ireland we don't mind dead ends because they usually had a pub at the end!!

Don't worry about not making it. These things are supposed to be fun and not pressure. You look like you will have a good house for babysitting. I have done that in the past and enjoyed it.

Let's hope you make it over next summer. I am sure some of us will get the chance to meet up. So far the campers here have been 88KE, Sagi, Pat OD, Sagi, Bjorn and myself so a camping meet up is always an option.

If you want romantic Fanore north of Cliffs of Moher (Clare) is a must visit for wild camping. Bring airbeds, its limestone karst on the side of the Atlantic and perfect on a summer evening. People make 'snowmen' from the limestone so it looks like an alien landscape. About half an hour away is Craggy Island, home to Father Ted where you can book tea and scones for two!! Comberjohns picture is taken there.

Another lovely place for wild camping is the soft ground at the sea beside Hook Head lighthouse. Not even an hour from Rosslare ferry port and a very old lighthouse, one of the oldest in Europe. Its open and has a place to eat. Loftus Hall is near it.

Why don't you guys move over here, lots of opportunities in both those fields within 10 miles of Cork but also all over the country!!

Another question answered too.........the biologist stopped to admire the sheeps....explains it all. Happy to give you some pointers.

We speak English [sort of], you can love live by the sea or near the sea, lots of Ks around and someone who knows about them, great campsites within 2 hours, fabulous Sunday rides, people are friendly, sheeps are civilised, bike parking is free...................you can live rural and most of the employment opportunities are rural or around cities in the technology parks.....
