The plan for this beastie was always to get it set up so that the dual seat and a single seat and rack section would be interchangeable. The back end is a bit of a retro style. Due to a less than rewarding experience with the local seat upholsterer the single seat is not ready but in order to get the interchangeability of seats to work I was always going to have to get the rear end to fit with the dual seat first then fabricate the rack section to fit between the single seat and rear section.
The rear section is fabricated and will be fitted for this trip.
This is a trial fit up during fabrication.
And this is a mock up with sticks and tape of the tail light and rear indicators.
Waz, I've been watching the weather forecast for Nymboida for next week and the overnight temps have only been down to 8 - 10 deg C so Rosskko may not need a new pink blanket. Of course if Charlie comes down he may bring one.
Got the rear end of the K75 back together this afternoon and have done the ride around the yard test; road test tomorrow with a ride to work the next couple of days.
Just as well you aren't made of fairy floss (American translation Cotton Candy) RossKo.

Well it's almost game time folks! Waz and Wazza will be heading north today. Latest news is that the boys have passed up the opportunity sleep in a tent in what could be wet conditions in favour of a cabin that became available. I've also been put on notice to pick up a Yellow Peril if we see one waiting by the side of the road tomorrow.
The K75 waiting patiently in the Hunter Valley for its friends to arrive.
Any chance of pink blankets arriving from north of the border??
Pink blankets maybe but a partly pink K11 is on the cards and highly dependent upon rain or the lack there off.

Well my K100 is loaded and ready to go. Departing tomorrow morning for an overnight in Tenterfield before taking a few back roads down through Drake, Baryulgil, Copmanhurst, Grafton and on to Nymboida. The rest of "Team Inverell" are on small bikes or similar so they'll be going mainly by dirt roads. I'll do a mixture of sealed roads and some dirt. Any K's heading south are welcome to join us at Tenterfield. Departing the Golfers Inn at about 8am on friday.
[/size] Yes, we will have beer, mid strength beer, Jim & Bundy cans and wine for sale … plus soft drink {+ water. Keeping it cheap beers $4 + spirits $5.
Hope that sounds good? Let me know if there is something else ?

Seems to be some bad luck around. I'm in doubt, I had a workplace accident today and have a open wound on my left hand that can't be stitched. So making it very difficult to pull the clutch in, I'll try and modify a glove and see how it is on Saturday.

Ouch! - Plenty of sympathy from here. I got through five tyres in four months because of crap on the road (I won't repair them because I don't trust the repairs) - I'd had LFB fifteen months before I finally wore out a tyre. Once was a piece of steel that slashed a hole in the rear about 20mm x 4mm; the only thing I learned from all this is that a puncture in a tubeless tyre is a total non-event.

Wazza and I are home, was great to see all again and a great time away, we couldn't handle the goat tracks brother Gaz plotted so Wazza and I took the highway like brick sisters. Rick the shock tester replacing another shocky. Ulli broke another shocky but saved by Rossko and I broke down on arrival and again saved by Rossko, he had it going again in a few minutes. Rossko motorcycle parts courier, repairer and scone sampler
Thanks for making young Wazza feel welcome he gained years of knowledge in a few days from following very good riders through some bueatifull country. He wasn't following me.
Thanks to Gaz and Ruth for the stop over and organizing the ride, he raised $1900 for a great cause that was a pleasure to be involved.
The total raised at the monent is close to $60,000 for down syndrome, will be interesting to see how high it gets.

Excellent weekend and for a very worthwhile cause.
Ready to head off, before the slight detour for spares.
Quick 5 hour run after work to meet the guys in Kempsey where the pub had already closed. Round the back to the beer garden and there was Waz and Wee Waz, Gaz and Rickmeister with a cold 6 pack and 3 pizzas. Mates for life. Talked crap, handed over the shock, drank a bit and ate.
Up early(ish) Friday morning for a not too far ride as the crow flies, but I did not put the Shinko's on for show. I think the bikes enjoyed their time at the pub. I wonder if they had a game of pool?
Yellow Peril and Ulli
Black Beauty being admired by Gaz
A red one and a nice CB1000 purchased by young Warren (the one with the hair) for $1000.
Gaz and I parted ways with the others as they took the sealed roads and we took to the dirt. Official road name is the Kempsey Armidale Road, but became know as Widow's Peak.
Beautiful bit of road as a random screenshot form Google shows.
That was 52 km. Then it was dirt. And not just any dirt. Angry chuck stuff at you dirt. We don't want you on our road find another way, dirt. Signs that read; Slip Zone Falling Rocks DO NOT STOP Road Narrows Beware of Logging Trucks Give Way to Oncoming Traffic Unfenced. Beware of Livestock
This is what it looked like they 'fixed' one section
If you want to watch a bit of some guy in his car in the rain then have a click. (It did not rain on us. Thankfully)
Gaz thought it a good photo op.
And we found a Bass fishing lodge. Not sure why we stopped. Maybe another photo op? Two bikes looking like they are having fun and getting dirty.
About 90km of this took us to Grafton Road and on to....
Skones
Average in quality. Too crumby. Real fresh cream, yummy jam and still hot gave them an extra point. 5/10
Finally made it to Nymboida Canoe Centre where I was presented by Gaz with this special award.
And the proof. I think Gaz looks pleased with my fire making abilities. Or he has gas.
The kampsite inkluding K with real dirt road dirt and blown fork seals to prove it.
And the bikes started to roll in along with a bunch of the kids we were there to support.
The 750 kwaka Gaz is checking out is a one owner 800,000km job with Hidenau 80/20 tyres who absolutely left me for dead on some of the roughest dirt roads you could take a road bike.
The calm before the storm on Saturday's loop ride with a bit of dirt and a bit of tar.
The Australian Bush. No finer place for a K. I wonder if the Germans had this in mind during R&D?
If you look closely (behind my bike) you will see a Chinese knock off of a 50cc two stroke Vmoto Milan scooter. Guy (that slip of a man in the red jacket and blue jeans) rode it down from south of Brisbane. 300km. Top speed...50kph. I heard he made it home also.
A photo of my bike and my thumb
My thumb and Gaz
Home safe to meet a few more. Waz, Charlie, young Waz, Rick, Rickmeister, Gaz and Smithy
More stuff happened. We talked crap for about an hour most of the night. Got dark. Slept.
Sunday morning I left pretty early with the two Wazzaz for a lenghty ride home made more pleasant by a plate of 6.5's. They lacked a uniform shape and were a bit on the cold side, but had a good crumb and pleasant taste.
3 bikes
That is about it. On the way home we stopped often to stretch which made the day a lot longer, but there was plenty of conversation and laughter. One thing Waz and I did was swap bikes for an hour on the freeway. Instantly I noticed his was different to mine. I was on tip toes with the stand up and the handling was a bit 'how's ya father'. Most of my ride was straight line, but at the end we went into a servo and round a round about and it felt to me like the back was trying to go round the corner before the front. My diagnosis was the shock is set too high as even with a standard seat I should be able to get more than two toes on the ground. Waz is looking into it. He is trying to find me some longer toes.
hahahahahaha
10 hours for me from leaving Nymboida and 1667km round trip.
The Scrapheap adventure raised over $70,000 on the weekend so a very successful event and one I hope I can do again next year.
Once again thanks to a very nice bunch of blokes for making a great weekend.

The off road stuff sounded pretty wild, not sure that an unmodified road LT would be a good choice for that kind of distance, but I'd try (and regret?) anything once!
Well I've finally found time to add to the story of the great Scrapheap Adventure Ride for 2014. First up I want to thank all on the forum who took part, supported and donated to Down Syndrome and all of you who have followed this thread as it helps raise awareness of the needs of sufferers.
The guys have already posted most of the details but I've a couple of photos to add. For me the adventure started when Waz and Wazza arrived at my place on Wednesday.
A couple of bricks and a Honda friend on the bricks outside my toy shed workshop.
We set off on Thursday morning with an eye out for the Yellow Peril and duly found it and owner Uli (Richmeister) waiting patiently (apparently we were a little later than expected).
So after Uli had finished admiring Black Beauty a.k.a. Waz's RS, we were really on our way. One of the "roads" that I had on my route turned out to be a fire trail that was unlikely to be RS/RT/Honda friendly so Uli led us onward as he has a much better knowledge of the roads in that area.
On arrival at Nabiac for fuel Uli found the shocky problem so once the Rosskko repair service had been organised the boys decided to head up the highway to ensure they would arrive safe and sound in Kempsey for our overnight stop. I headed back out onto the back roads/tracks. I enjoyed the scenery but ended up having to backtrack about 45 kms when I was northwest of Wauchope due to a road closure for bridge repairs.
I finally got to the Great Northern pub in Kempsey where the team was already settled in. I think it's fair to say that we were well looked after there and would not hesitate to recommend it to any fellow bikers. Our bikes were able to be locked up in the secure beer garden area once patrons had left.
The team ready to hit the road from Kempsey on Friday morning.
Rosskko has given an insight into the track that he and I followed northwest from Kempsey. Great scenery in places as we climbed out of the Macleay River valley.
Once we had hit the sealed road again on the top of the northern tablelands east of Armidale we enjoyed a bit of a blast across to the small village of Ebor and a morning tea break at Fusspots cafe for coffee and skones in front of the fire (Rosskko has already critiqued the skones). We met quite a few other "scrappers" on their way to the meet while we were there, including Graham and Russell from Woolongong on their postie bikes sitting on a steady 50-60 km/hr.
Once at Nymboida we all set up camp. For someone who told me that he hadn't camped out for "1,000 years" Uli made himself comfortable (check out the folding armchair that he brought along in one of Rosskko's photos) but as you can see below he looks after the Yellow Peril better than himself. The bike is on concrete floor under cover and Uli is over in the small blue tent.
I had decided that Rosskko deserved a formal recognition of his efforts at the Alpine Rally earlier in the year to create fire to keep his colleagues warm so here is the photo of the presentation, the contents of which he has already reported. At this point I think he is quite concerned at what might be in the package.
As Rosskko reported, he and I ventured out on the loop ride on Saturday through the forest and we were pleased to survive that and stay upright and get to the pub at Copmanhurst for lunch.
After walking into the pub I wasn't surprised to find that Pork gravy rolls was on the menu.
After a couple of nights of good kompany and banter we all headed off on Sunday by various routes back to home base. Smithy accompanied me back towards Armidale with another go at the skones at Fusspot's in Ebor. Uli and I had arranged to stay overnight at the pub in Nundle - he was going by sealed road and I was going to attempt to get from Armidale to my house in Greta without going onto the main highway. I managed to achieve it but there were many challenging sections with a couple of hundred kilometres of track similar to that which Rosskko reported through the forest - probably not what the K75 was designed for but it behaved faultlessly. For those that may be interested I have posted a link to the route on Google maps below.
Uli and I had an enjoyable night in the Nundle pub and I think he would agree with me in recommending the establishment to any traveling bikers.
I managed to arrive back at home base on Monday about 1:00pm. The K75 badly in need of a wash. As aways it was good to catch up with the forum members who came from all directions and I was able to meet Rockman for the first time.
Excellent reports GaZ and RossKKo, special thanks to Gaz for driving this ride and raising the dosh for a really worthwhile cause. Well done Gaz, Proud to say I Know you.

I'm riding this. Cost me nothing initially and I've spent about $300 on it, most of which is a set of tyres and tubes.
Poor Phil's little suzuki never made it to Nymboida.

Phil, Waz, I see in the advertising for this year that the starting price is the same for either scrapper or non-scrapper bikes. There was probably some feedback from last year that non-scrapper riders were interested in going thereby donating but didn't wish build/buy a bike specifically for that event and the non-scrapper cost was too high.
The location is south west NSW so could pull in people from the southern areas. I did enjoy last year so we will have to see if I can fit it in.

Cheers
G'day Gaz. I think the idea is that if you are on a non scrapper you just donate the extra. It was a bit difficult to sort out the different entry fees on their web site or something.
I still owe you a beer, so you'd better get to Urana to collect it
Hey Phil, thanks for reminding me about the beer(s), it's certainly worth a decent ride to settle up on that one. I think it's time for me to crank up a new thread for further discussion about the 2015 event.
