Hi all

I've not had much chance yet to meet many / any of you folks - me being based mainly in Spain and not riding much over recent months - but I hope to rectify this as I spend more time on two wheels in 2013.

One example of which is the 2013 ABRAC "round the UK" charity ride - in aid of prostate cancer. And let's be honest guys - we do all want our bits to be kept in order - so a good cause methinks - see: http://www.abrac.org.uk/index.html

Hence my volunteering to pick up the baton at the Taffy Dakar in mid-Wales on the UK May Bank Holiday weekend - see: http://www.taffydakar.co.uk/

Then hang on to it for a few days in the Cardiff area while I do a bit of work etc - and then take it over to Northern Ireland to meet up with like minded souls at the ABR rally the following weekend - where it will be passed on to other riders planning to take it further north - see: http://www.adventurebikerider.com/forum/97-may-2013-abr-ireland-rally-10th-11th-12th.html

If anyone is around at the Taffy Dakar - please keep an eye open for me and come over to say hello.

If anyone fancies riding with me from Pontypridd up to the Taffy Dakar on Sunday 5 May - feel free to shout and we'll work up a plan.

If anyone fancies riding back from the Taffy to Pontypridd-ish with me on Monday 6 May - again feel free to shout.

AND

If anyone is really feeling an adventure growing and wants to ride with me from Pontypridd to Holyhead (up through the wonderful mid Wales) on Friday 10 May - and/or hop a ferry over the Dublin - and ride up into the north of the emerald isle - I would again feel blessed by your company.

I know a few of you are planning to be at the ABR bash - so please keep an eye out for me and come and say hello.

Don't worry about riding styles or speeds - I tend to bimble along at a steady pace with a good amount of stops and will be riding Idris - my XT660 to the Taffy - hardly a fast bike - and most likely my 26 year old K100LT over to Ireland (so some of you can point out to me where the oil is coming from Very Happy Very Happy ).

And please shout if this is something that grabs your imagination - and any suggestions as you how we can boost the fundraising along the way would be most welcome. See: https://www.justgiving.com/adventurebikeridersagaintcancer/

Hope to see you on the road.

I envy you on those lovely roads up through Wales, I suppose places like Bethesda, Betys y Coed and Capel Curig are featuring.......I love those any time of year. I would love them on a K too.....

Here's hoping for some nice weather for 10th May...

Cheers 92KK

Shame if you can't make the ABR rally - but I did pick up the reasons for this elsewhere. Hope your plans to return rubber to the road are progressing well.

And yes, I hope to be taking in many of the places you note along the way.

Pat/John

I will be missing this one if I dont make it. Trying to get it sorted but time is running out.

Either way I plan a trip up north this year so if its ok with Comberjohn we might have another northern run like last September....I suspect 88KE and Bjorn will be up for it not to mention those of us who have done it before.!!.

The treatments for cancer have been the same for forty years and apparently until laws are changed to permit innovation no cure will ever be found. The treatments for, e.g. melanoma, is the same as breast cancer???????????? WHY?????????

Not sure if anyone from this forum made it to the first Irish ABR as I was there for the Friday night only. Great night, great location and well run. I covered 920 miles on the Friday and Saturday as part of the Irish photo rally and had a ball. There are a few stunning locations in your part of the island ComberJohn, Torlough bay bothy being one. Unfortunately not on a K but a on a BMW nevertheless.

I was very disappointed to have to miss the weekend. The photos are fantastic yet they still do not do it justice.

Comberjohn is sitting on some of the most fantastic roads up North, we had a great day up there last September. Hopefully we can repeat some time this year??? I need to get back on the road for it though....

Now, here is a thought.....a link up with some Ks from Sctoland? There is great camping around Newcastle, not a million miles from a ferry......just a not so wild thought.

Good idea 92KK, Meelmore Lodge is a great location for those wishing to camp, b&b is also available but would need to be prebooked.
