I have a 8v k100 that will start but barely ticks over and as soon as you try to rev it cuts out
getting fuel but spark seems weak tested resistance of leads getting the normal 5k ohms but one is reading 103k ohms!!!!!!! so obviously this one is bad but would this be enough to cause these issues I suffering im going to test coils later and chase back issue I will buy some new ht leads and plugs anyway but would really like to nail this on the head anyone any tips advice I would really appreciate anything:-)
cheers
mike

When you find a problem fix it as that will eliminate that part of the equation. These engines use a wasted spark system in that the plug also fires on the top of the exhaust stroke and as a result a bad lead will affect two cylinders because one coil serves two cylinders.
It could well be the problem but (and isn't there always a but) air leaks in the intake system is a very real possibility as well. Fix the plug lead then if it still is cactus have a look for leaks.

More than likely.  Lead shouldn't fail in days.

lead reading fine now but still same barely starts and wont rev.
last time I cut off suppressor cap and just held ht lead close to spark plug and started and ran fine but tried that again this time but doesn't work now!!!!!!
wish I had some spares one to check but might just have to bite bullet and get some newer tested ones

I had something funny with the LT quite a while back, not so long after a full service. Turned out a dud plug, didn't even do 2,000 miles. They are cheap and seemingly given to failing so I now always carry a spare. The old test of fire it up and see which exhaust doesn't get hot.......Swapped plugs on the first step to see was it going to be coil or plug lead, was a dud plug.

that's one of the first things I did hadn't it in past on other bikes once you flood them never the same again
I tried it again earlier and hey presto it was fine took it out for run didn't miss a beat will try again over next few days these are the worst problems to diagnose when they don't always do it!!!!
definatly something to do with spark as when it does it the plugs do get wet and when it does go it clears them with a run not like its running rich

I had something similar a few years ago, bike would start but miss badly when you tryed to ride it, new set of leads did not fix it. Turned out to be the fuel filter, changed it and runs well, I put a piece of tube where the filter was, eliminating the filter, it run well, so I bought a new filter, all fixed. Worth a try, cheers Gary
