Hi Mike welcome to our little corner of the www.  I am sure we can sort your problem out, we haven't been defeated yet and there has been some very hard puzzles to solve.

Very Happy Hi there, Mike !
Very welcome, and: just try the 'search'-option ? My guess is that most of the issues you may encounter have already been answered / solved somewhere !
There are lots of great members over here, always someone 'online'  and willing to help / think with you.
Keep us posted and, before someone else does, I'd like to ask you for a pic of your bike ?(Just toggle/hover the toolbar above the textfield to find out how to link a photo. It´s simpel...)

Thank´s in advance and: enjoy !

Jos

Hi Mike

I think I'm going to have to change my name to Mike soon - there seems to be a growing number of Mikes in the UK contingent.

Anyway, welcome to the forum - as the others say, you should be able to find all the answers and advice you need on this site.  Slow and steady wins the day every time - if in doubt, a little research and arming yourself with knowhow is better than old fashioned brute force and ignorance (and regret).

Rest assured, the effort should be worth it and you will have a bike that you will enjoy just getting out and about on. I took my bike across into Wales yesterday (I ride all year round, so any day is a "good weather day" - some are just better than others) and had a cracking good ride around the Brecon National Park. Some fantastic twisty roads and virtually car free. I failed to plan in a decent country pub stop over for lunch though and my hope of finding one (open) was in vain! Still 260 miles and still smiling/able to walk at the end of it is a true measure of the comfort of the K100's. I am waiting on slightly better camping weather before I venture as far north as you, but I will be aiming for Snowdonia and Anglesey for one of my ride outs.

Enjoy your bike and good luck with your restoration.

Paul, keep us posted on this. A few Irish Eccentrics mentioned a camping trip to Wales and there is the making of a little encounter here. I have covered a lot of Wales and love the place. I fancy some steam trains too and one of my favourite routes was in from Holyhead, Capel, Curig, Betwys y Coed and more. We have plenty of ferries and a July trip might be in order......just a thought. If you guys feel like a ferry trip across to us we will roll out the red I mean green carpet for you. You could come in Holyhead and go out Pembroke/Fishguard.....we know a few nice places too.

I thought everyone was called Mike. MyK does this, I like MyK, where is MyK?

92KK - sure thing. A July trip sounds like the start of a plan, it would be great to give Mike a hard target to aim for and see how many of the UK contingent we could persuade to swarm into Northern Wales.

I haven't tried camping with  MyK (lol!  ) but there's plenty of time for a few trial runs to see what I can pack in. As for the Emerald Isle....well, I am in the serious stages of coming over in April (sometime during week of 14 - 21 Apr). If any of the Irish Eccentrics are meeting that week, then it would be great to meet up. I would be getting the Fishguard / Rosslare ferry and heading to Cork (still got a date with the Blarney Stone) and out west to Killorglin. No firm plans yet on route or duration - so open to suggestions.
