Anyone have any idea weather or not a K1100 output shaft (which I assume of the 12 rivet design) would fit in a K100?

Please tell me yes, you will make me a happy little vegemite.

What other major engine components are compatible?

Anyone know of any resources outlining the similarities and differences?

Are they basically the same, only with different bores and/or strokes?

If you are thinking of putting the 1100 in place of the 1000 it is not as straight forward as you may think.
The ECU and injection is a stumbling block. I know of one person who tried to do it and had problems in that area and put the 1000 back in.
To be quite honest I reckon that the 8 valve engines are a better engine for the job. I have a K1100 and I would have no hesitation going to a K100 again, as far as I am concerned the electric screen was the only big improvement and I do get better fuel economy.

Absolutly, 100% agree with you Rick G. Very Happy

Just thinking about which other 'upgrades' could I scavenge of a 'wrecked' K1100.

Thinking, complete front end, throttle bodies, injectors, output shaft....

Wondering what else is in the realm of possibility...

I put in a 1100 output shaft into my 85 about 5 years ago from a used K1100..

Only issue was that the output shaft bearing on my 85 had to be reused, as at some point on the K100 line, they changed out the bearing/cases with a different design..

I just removed the K1100 bearing and installed my old output bearing which looked in great shape..

Cheers Dave,

Good to know.

Would the alternator work and be a sensible upgrade? Anyone know?

If you need more power...........up to 09/92 the K11 alternator was 33A same as the one on the K100,
from 09/92 it was upgraded to 50A.
