Hi all. Seem to have developed a problem with my left hand indicator button. I can still make it
work with a bit of fiddling around but obviously something insidde the switch has let go.

Is it worth pulling apart. Can I buy the switch on it's own or am I up for a complete control unit
on the left hand side

Yes you can pull them apart, most here will tell you to do it in a clear plastic bag so as not to loose any of the fiddly bits, usually a bag big enough to stick the whole unit in along with your hands probably from both ends with a screw driver and small beaky nose pliers, you can check through the old posts via the search function for others who have done it before, and you can visit the bm shop as they would have anther unit there ready to go if you chose to take the easy way around the issue, sometimes just soaking the unit in cleaner can remove the verdigrease that has or is stopping the unit at present, maybe even drown it in wd40 or onix whilst operating the switch will clear some of the crud away to restore its use.

+1.

You can take these apart easily and (correct me if I am wrong) there's nothing in the left switch that will turn into a missile...but take precautions like Keith suggested.

You will probably find that it's only dirty contacts. Clean them up, apply DeoxIT red (note the
spelling Very Happy) and all will be good. DeoxIT is available from any Jaycar shop.

No doubt that WD40 will be a help here, but I have found Lanotec Heavy Duty Liquid (spray can) is very good stuff. Alby reckons it smells like stinking, wet sheep. He uses it as an aftershave or so I've heard!
Get it from Supercheap Autos for around 12 bucks or so.

If you have any problems, post it and we'll see what we can do.

If you want new switches I bought one for each side from Motobins in UK for about 1/4 of the price the BM Shop in Brisbane quoted and Munich Motorcycles were a tiny bit cheaper than BM Shop but said they were not available any more but he may be able to get a new old stock. (he buys a lot of his parts from Motobins and Motoworks in UK).
