well I was going thru some old boxes and found a magic blinker setup that I bought years ago and never installed. It functions to light up the signals as running lights and flash them off instead of on.

http://www.customled.com/products/magic_blinker/magic_blinker.htm

they seem to have updated them lately, but I bet these still work. The question I have is for some of us who have actually removed the tank and had a poke around the electrical box with the flasher relays in it (yes, I admit I have not "gone there" yet)

once inside, will I be able to find a single wire coming from the flasher controller that I can splice this into to control both the front and rear from the same "genie"? i.e. when the wires come off the relay, do they come out as two right away, or do they split somewhere just away from it?

may as well try to get my $40 worth since I supported the company so early on!

thanks in advance! Big thumb

According to my wiring diagram they join together somewhere in the harness and appear as 1 wire when at the connector to the Flasher relay. Be careful as the flasher relay is easy to upset and it chucks a hissy fit and refuses to work till you put it back to std.

Could you post an installation diagram, or explain how the BG relay taps into the system?

Kisan Technologies in Colorado USA have offered a version of that sort of thing for yonks now, although I've only ever used one in an Oilhead. It's called a SignalMinder and directly replaces the relay, allowing the front and rear indicators (though rear amber 'running' isn't legal in most countries and some states in the USA) to become on-the-fly adjustable, reduced intensity running lights, as well as including a time-adjustable flasher cancel mode with 8, 30 or 45 second cancel times. There are flashing brake light function options, too. One of the best parts is that both left and right indicator on switches become indicator off switches too, like an H-D. There are no bulb failure warnings from the BMU, either. Part number SM-6 for K bikes and SM-5 for Oilheads. Here's a glimpse.

their installation is like this,

Blinker Genie (or running light conversion!) Blnker-Genie

so it looks like it needs a power source, and the wire from the flashers. There are two units, one for each side of the bike.

is there a "spare" power wire running into that box under the tank?

Ya, I don't know about the wiring configuration in the relay box. I have a wiring harness from the spare parts bike to look over, but just can't say off-hand. I'll have some time on Thursday and will try to get your answer.

As for my running RT, I'm not sure this will work because it has 4-way flashers. Although I like the concept, so won't give-up on it at least until I can verify the wiring of the Genie.  Idea
