My bike is a mixture of parts at the moment. The tail piece and side covers are a non metallic red, which I rather like, so I'd like to paint the tank and front guard the same colour. When I search BMW reds the nearest I come up with is Marrakesch red (might be spelt wrong). Does anybody have a pic of a bike in this colour I can compare with?

The K100RS in TWBs signature is the red you want.

Sorry no, I don't know if BMW called it that either. It said cherry red on the rego papers.
But if you see an orange sunburst coloured bike, that's the colour after being in the sun too long Smile

These guys think it's code 877.

All the BMW reds are listed here -> http://www.bmbikes.co.uk/paintcodes/reds.htm

Or take a panel to supercheap and get them to put it on the colour match machine.

super cheep ....ha..... you've got to be joking

be like taking an imported ford to a young chemists sales girl to get a match  and as about as intelligent   and they are the good ones ...pity help if you only have a kmart ......  enough said ?

please look for a reputable trade paint supplier with the proper paint analyser - scanner

"hearts" in  springwood ...( for the brissy guys ) scanned my colour and had it matched within  about 30 seconds ...) I didnt tell them I knew the bmw paint code ....but they got it in one
they mixed a pressure pack and had me on my way in less than 5 minutes  and ....for under 25 dollars

good luck

You old cynic Charlie, last time I had them test a panel they had no trouble pressing the button and the machine even output what colour the primer needed to be. The big problem is at $160 litre, the paint costs too much.

Rockman, Basic2's bike should be Marakesh red. Code 643. I just went and checked mine and it is 643, but his is in much better condition and shows the colour much better.

Or look at Motocol's bike. He made it himself and is aftermarket Marakesh red.

Motocol

Gee yours is much prettier than mine:) . Yes that's the colour, and the bike along the lines of what I'm aiming for.
