How close to Alaska Blue is Koenigsblau? Reason I ask is because I escaped into the wild for a couple of hours today after six weeks of not riding the K and discovered that I had forgotten how painful riding a bike with a slight lean-forward position now is (arthritis in both wrists). I've already fitted naked bars and put a 25mm riser underneath them, so I've really hit the limit that way. I briefly considered selling Low Flying Brick and keep Kostenlos (thanks Stu!) but that thought stung a bit after 78,000 miles. So the next thought was to fit a nice Koenigblau K100LT/K1100LT fairing and bars, but what's the difference in shade? Any?

The other possibility is to put RT/LT bars on LFB, but what does that do to the aerodynamics (i.e. getting rid of the wet stuff at speed) behind the RS fairing? Making new brake lines and control cables and extending the wiring is not a problem.

@TWB: Can't trust the colour reproduction. I do graphics work as part of games development so I have to calibrate both monitors once a month to a known Pantone standard. What's on-screen for Alaska Blue looks nothing like what's standing outside. I'd like the impossible and that's a Pantone number for both colours, but I was hoping someone had seen both together and could say 'X looks nothing/just like Y'. The other solution Very Happy is just to buy a cheap piece of Royal Blue fairing off ebay and compare them.

@Duck: you need shooting for that Question on fairing colours 44271

Took my own advice: ebay 173408066637. Not much enthused about the lettering but there's things that can be done about that.

Olaf: I ran a quick'n'dirty rebalance assuming the road roller is painted in JCB yellow:-

i think there's still slightly too much red in it. And my main monitor's just reminded me it needs its monthly TLC... thank you Murphy.

I took that about 5pm one sunny evening, after 250 miles that day, just before putting in the shed. At 6pm came back out to put in the shed and sun got to me so I headed out again......put another 250 miles on it and put it in the shed for midnight.

I won't comment on shades of Blue but vis a vis fairings and handlebars the LT solution works well. On my K100LT I use a 25mm set of risers and setbacks from ComberJohn and it made a great difference. I don't need those on the K1100LT at all.
If you do go for the RT/LT bars on the RS fairing I think your head will be in the worst of wind and rain. You should seriously consider the RT/LT fairing with Electric screen. Nothing out there to beat them for Protection whilst remiaiing pretty compact. I have a k1100 front fairing (outers) comlete if it's any good to wou screen has already been pilfered.

Will, I'll take you up on that offer just as soon as we get clearance to taxi further than the end of the drive. Thank you.

I never did get my 'blue comparison piece'. It was the top half of the fairing and after the gentleman had packed it up, I got a message saying that the local courier wouldn't take the box as it was too big. Ah well - he did refund me pretty sharpish.
