I was just down in Maplin electronics and saw that they had their battery powered heated jackets, fleeces, gloves, insoles etc. on special. The fleeces were €9.99 or £6.99. That's cheap!
I already have one. It will run for about an hour an 6 AA batteries, but I replaced the battery packs with a 5V 2A transformer that plugs into the bike socket. No problem to do if you are handy with a soldering iron.
As it is battery operated, the heating element is pretty small, just covering the chest area left and right. But if you are looking for a cheap piece of kit for the forthcoming winter (in the Northern Hemisphere) it is worth it.
I don't know how much the Gerber kit it, but I'd guess add a zero onto the price above.
