I had a quick visit from K bike test pilot Rosko who took it for a ride around the block and made it back. He found a rattle I could not pin point in the front brake, I thought it was from near my right foot. I was not even close. He also reminded me about the clutch adjustment I have been meaning to do and freeing the cable. Can now pull the clutch leaver in with one hand. Passed blue slip and I payed the rego today, now it has it's own number plate. Ready to do some short trips to see what falls off. I bet it rains this weekend.
Thanks Rosko

Yep it is loose, that's the rattle, swapped pins and spring from LT and no more noise.

Put a different seat on but still need bar risers.

Took it down past Nowra and back 300klms and no problems untill I turned into my street and one spot light fell off and chipped the front guard. Spot lights are back on the shelf never to be fitted again. Bike went like a new one. Feels very different to the RT.

Hey Waz, the reason we are going over a few gravel roads on the Scrapheap Adventure is to get some stone chips on them - it will help it look the part. I plan to get my K75 tank repainted but I might leave it until after that ride.

Glad to hear that it's feeling good on the road.

Cheers

First good ride revealed a few problems, handling is excellent only on very smooth roads the rest of the time it's terrible, Rosko had a go and was not impressed with the feel on the road so I replace the tyres with new sports deamons and softened and lowered the rear shock also replaced fork oil with 5 in place of 10. The new front wheel bearing also collapsed. When I when to test ride it started blowing smoke like it did when I first fired it up. The plugs oiled up and it started to miss when taking off. I think and hope the valve guides are gone, I should have done them before I went. I have ordered the seals and a timing chain and guides, I should have done them too.

Can I replace valve guides with out removing the head? Pressurize the cylinder like they do on some cars.

I'll guess you're speaking about the valve seals, and not the valve guides.

If you have worn valve seals you're gonna get a lot of blue smoke when you
close the throttle at speed and brakes with the engine.

a high resistance cable could emphasize this issue ...

I guess you've read all the suggestions for spark cables, resistive plugs  and all that

have a look inside the secondary towers for the yucky green effect of corrosion eh ? when damp that stuff provides a good spark jump over point

good luck mate

What are they from you ask....the single cam Hyundai Excel injectors work great and easy to find..I bought 4 for $50 still on a rail....they proved that they work but they did bleed down so new ones would be heaps better.
Short story you can have these or get some local as they work well.

I'm helping a mate restore a 1983 K100 (1st model). It also has been sitting in a shed for 12 years. The inside of his fuel tank was full of crud.
The fuel pump dampener has virtually dissolved. The original fuel pump was toast. We sourced a VL Commodore bosh pump. But it won't start (or run on petrol). It will fire and run with LPG sprayed into the airbox.
I don't hear any clicks from the injectors. I am assuming (seeing the goo that lined the fuel tank) that they are gummed up.
Can you be more specific as to what model Hyundi Excel you sourced the injectors from?

Got the Hyundi injectors from the local wreckers on Monday. Only managed to skewer my left thumb once with a screwdriver getting them out (levering off the clips). Sad
Fitted them Tuesday. Its runs 12 years in a shed - Page 3 212902 . Cleared out the mozzies in the shed with the 2 stroke oil we had squirted in the cylinder bores a while ago when we first tried to turn her over.

Now we need to chase up a new black fuel pump mount. Pity the Aussie peso has dropped so much against the pound and USD.

Hmmm - those Zorsts are looking very nice indeed.

I'm getting a little tired of the clunky looking K100 original silencer - works absolutely fine as a silencer, but with the heat shield on I get an annoying resonant buzz and with the heat shield removed, it looks pretty ropey! Means I'd need to polish up my header pipes though. At £500 (plus shipping, handling and customs duty) it would be a fair chunk to fork out (for 2 bikes)...but oh, so tempting!!
