The new link to the video is on the Web page of the event.  Go to www.bmwmcq.org.au and follow the link to "100 Year Celebration". On there are the things that are happening on the 23rd and 21st of September. There is an application form on there for nominating your bike into the display in the CBD Brisbane.  Being the 40th year of the mighty "K" bikes, we would like a few of each model to be represented.

So far we only have:

1x K75C
2x K75S
1x K100 naked
1x K100RS
1x K100RS SE
1x K100RS 16V
1x K1
1x K1100RS
1x K1200RS
1x K1200GT (flat motor)

We still need:

K75RT
K100RS JPS

K100RT

K1100LT

This is a BMW sanctioned event, we have 60 bikes confirmed including the original model (R32) so far.

Charlie,

Yes, the event is being held in Radacliffe Square opposite the Casino.  It is the paved area between the top of the Queen St. Mall and the river.  Entry via George St and our display motos have a parking number.

I will be there with my 75S along with the K100 Basic.

Thanks Charlie, Glad you could make it.  The event, which work on it started 12 months ago as a low key event by our club, ended up a major event with the support of BMW Australia.
It started on Wednesday with a display ride around Morgan Park Raceway by many BMW's followed be a Dinner at the Manly Yacht Club which had 100 guests which included guests from BMW Australia to the main event, the Display on Saturday. There was a few thousand people went through the display.
We had a lot of support from Brisbane City Council, RFDS, Qld Police Service and Motocap who test and rate motorcycle apparel being sold in Australia (motocap.com.au).

Gary

Gary you really outdid yourself, a great event and well run. I only have only one complaint, the one over enthusiastic parking attendant. I wouldn't be using him again. I've also got a feeling we've picked up a few more possible Kweensland K Kronies. Next workshop may be a case of bring your own chairs or sit on the floor.
Regards Martin.

Just a few random photos:

Our K bikes took pride of place at the entrance to the display.

1970s through 1980s models and part of my inspiration to buy my first BMW.
Celebrating 100 Years (40 years of the K series) Dscn9912

There was a talk by the Club about various models on display and the owner of the K1 could not be located, so someone else had to provide a bit of a chat about the bike.

And the Big Daddy of them all the 1923 R32.

An iconic motorcycle and the first to carry the BMW Motorrad brand. Powered by a 494cc boxer engine, it set the standard for future BMW bikes.  The innovative design and engineering laid the foundation for a legacy of excellence in motorcycle manufacturing.

The owner brought three early model BMWs to the display and though I did not speak with him directly I was informed that there are only four of these in existence and this is a pre-production model.  Apparently BMW Australia does not own one which is a bit of sore point.

Sort the reason we all turned up I suppose.
