Whenever I see a nice clean bike like that, I always feel a bit guilty about the state of mine... Shocked

If we have 4 months of snow and off the road for the winter we would have clean bike like that. But instead we ride over the winter in whatever rain is thrown at us.

I wouldn't mind if I could just make one of my bikes look like that for at least once in its life with me. However, I only feel guilt when some Mate wants to borrow one and I know he is not the type to share my tendency towards identifying with those that care about how the bike operates and resists degradation, as opposed to joining the ranks of the full blown restorers and the spit and polishers. I admire them but most of the time I don't want to become one of them.

I feel plenty of guilt for just identifying with the maintainers instead of making it a habit (even though my psychologist is trying to get me to ride more and worry less!). If I rode half as much as some of the guys on this forum I'd either be dead / injured and out of it or I'd be doing plenty of walking / bike pushing / hitch hiking....
