The work cloud lifted Friday afternoon and the rain clouds lifted Saturday morning so I went for a little run. On the way home I took this
road. It has some nice sweeping curves and a reasonable good surface for the first few kilometers.

On the spur of the moment I tought it would be nice to video it so I stuck the iphone inside the the helmet, wedged in with my chin Winter ride - helmet cam. 8157

Paul, that was the bike cutting out on me when I pulled in the clutch lever to change down for the junction it just conked (see the dash lights come on - skip forward to 7:10 on video) dropped a couple of cogs and let the clutch out to bump it back to life Winter ride - helmet cam. 694830

Nice 88. One thing. I notice the driving instructions from google says about 11 minutes. Your video only goes for 8m25s!

88, thanks for sharing your wonderful countryside with us, pretty good pics and very enjoyable to watch.
nearly as good as riding with you.( don't get the wrong idea)
Rossco , sound was fairly clear , not sure that it would have improved if mounted on top of helmet.
Klompy said he gets poor sound with his.

Yep as my camera is velcroed to the side of my helmet and the RS is reonowned for turbulence there is heaps of noise!!!as per the first moments of the following clip...the music is far more interesting I think although would love to hear the pipe going off...next time I will put it behind the screen and go the Harbour bridge and return via the tunnel....hang on for that ...Rossco what you doin on the weekend?....

Not a problem Sean ....iphone 4 "Helmet cam" mounted....

Doesn't work with iphone3 as you cant rotate the view so your chin/nose would be poking the screen making it do god knows what.

I just borrowed my boys IPOD jammed it down the front of my helmet and my wife asked what the hell was I doing this time....you cannot go out like that...was it the bright orange rubber cover or the obvious vision impairment issue who knows....but I never realised how little space is in front of you face whilst wearing a full face of course minor adjustments can be made with nose or tongue but I can assure you narrative is out of the question!!!!

yep maybe not for everyone.....lol

Well I just tried to emulate your video 88 but in the absence of an iphone I used a Flip Video gizmo we'd got as a free gift years ago. Unfortunately it would not fit in my helmet; it's kinda boxy, so I tried to velcro to the outside of my jacket. The result is a lot of wind noise and sky and the odd muffled expletive and some huge useless video files. Will need to m odify my methodology Very Happy

Friday [15th] came and I needed to go to Limerick. Round trip 155 miles for me and for once the road seemd particularly nice.. Decided on taking the K and what a day. Sun came out, bike was sweet, made me think its time we had another breakfast....

And Bjorn is mobile again too.....

If any Irish Eccentrics. or indeed just eccentrics, would like to join a motorcycling wknd. at the Mills Inn http://www.millsinn.ie/ in Ballyvourney Co.Cork on 1-2 March you all are wlcome. A (very) scenic route of approx 200km gas been set for the Saturday and for those of you with sat.nav the route can be loaded for you on the day or if you pm me I can arrange to have it e-mailed to you. Some fabulous routes around the Mills, know the area well. The weekend seems good and the long range forecast is good for it too. Its a great area. Seems a good price for the weekend.

I have an idea of your location 92KK, and you may not have been this way, the routes for these weekends are always the roads less travelled. These events are so good and the scenery is so stunning that on the last one I decided to do a highside at 80kph and become part of it. If anyone wants to take part in the fun just arrive early on the Sat,do the run and return home that evening that is ok too. Entry to the event is free.

Here is my solution. A $15 cam clips neatly to a rubber visor shield and allows the visor to come down. The only problem with this is that the microphone is at the front near the lens. This makes it a bit hard to record commentary... it gets drowned out by the wind noise at speed.

spotted a few on ebay, looks like a goer, just tape over the mic and add sound effects later.
probably not so good for those needing to lower visors, poor camera view.
someone suggested the standard SD card may not be suitable for action images... any thoughts?

Use micro SD if I remember correctly... I can write words but it is better if you take a look at this. Used that set-up to record this. Note that the sound is fine until I get going. The road is just noth of Wollongong, going towards Stanwell tops.

Those little mini cams are not bad for the price, recently I've seen one with a waterproof housing on fleabay. Any micro SD card will be ok for this cam. There are links online to sort out the date/time stamp. Here is a short from mine, its just clipped to the hull which flexes quite a bit so video is a little wobbly.
For you K people the sound is at 00:19 Very Happy

. Its a bit different to driving on wheels as the power comes on for the corner and down for the straight
