Hi all, just introducing myself. I've had a K100 since around 1990. There's been a few, mostly sidecars. That explains why the current one is an '87 K100RS with a sidecar. I'm at the beginning of fitting a K1100 engine to it which has been a long term desire. Its not happening quickly.
She basically looks like this. All the sidecar engineering is LH from South Oz, but it has a HRD 1.5 body sitting on the chassis.

welcome AL, nice outfit, the HRD compliments the RS quite well,
plenty of power on board already, especially when you consider the water flow against bike, chair and trailer, is there a need for the 1100 upgrade?

Yeah, its needed. The bike has a seized radiator fan, its OK in cool conditions but warms up quickly in warm slow traffic, this has damaged the motor a bit though she's still reliable. The fan is a big job to change due to the subframe setup otherwise it would already be done.
My first K100RT HRD sidecar was good for 170kmh on the flat, this one struggles to hit 140. The RS final drive is a bit of an issue too, it doesnt pull top gear in hilly country at all well.
More power will fix all this and maybe give better fuel range too as I should be using less throttle. Or get a bigger dog Smile It's still a good bike regardless.

Al

I think you may be mistaken Sean. Did you end up using that noisy 4-1 pipe that I delivered to Guyra afew years back?
