As virtually all gasoline in the US (but not all) has E10 in it I now use a product called Star Tron that "eats" the ethanol. I noticed, while riding right round the US last Fall, that the idle on my RT would rise two hunnerd rpm or more (perhaps also due to the oxygenated fuels used here) after filling the tank with premium E10 ethanol in it. So I tried this blue "mystery fluid" as it was recommended to me by a friend.

The idle settled back down after the second tank and the bike now responds more crisply. I've torched twelve or so tanks through on the RT now using 2+/- ounces of Star Tron per 6.6 US gallons and she's near normal. I shudder to think what we'll do when the E15 rubbish hits the pumps...

There must be a massively well-organised corn lobby in Americaland.

Where are you getting the Star Tron?

I had some experience with ethanol on my last K.
Turns the plastic(?) fuel pump holder into mush and an internal tank breather into liquorice.
I believe old fibreglass fuel tanks just disintegrate.

But I'm sure the EU won't let that happen to us, boys.'Very Happy'

Unlikely. There's not a large corn farmer lobby active in the EU Parliament in Brussels as what operates in the great US of A.

For now, I am OK.
I was checking Our local government site and read the following:
Ethanol is available for Canadian drivers at 10,000 retailing stations. Note: Ethanol fuel is not currently available in Nova Scotia (This is where I live).
I am lucky for a while, but we always follow the US.....
In Canada we produce a lot of oil in the West and we sell it to the US.
In the East, we buy the transformed gasoline from the US Question They must make a special batch for us Laughing

In Canada, Shell V-Power (supposedly) contains no ethanol, for what that's worth. I use it in all my vehicles.

In AU we have a pretty good selection of fuels. 91, 95 and 98 octane RON. E10 is also available which I think is about 85.

I always use the 95

When we were in France ended up putting in that E85 s***e stuff that seems to be everywhere and my K does not like it at all. Its like pulling off as plug lead just as you leave the gas station.

There is a nice white badge on my fuel tank, that says " min 95 "
Which is the only fuel available in Ireland. never heard of anything less than that.
Had the pleasure of using 100oct fuel in italy Smile of course, they wouldn't stand for anything else..
And yes it did make a differance

Why? Everywhere sells 95 and that is what the engine runs best on. Surprised that you have not yet converted it to run on diesel, if you do let me know as I want a diesel K too.

Ah Bob we ended up at some places that had the E10/95 pump closed off or out of fuel and only E85 or Gazole or GPL.

We do all know the K engines are unburstable so a diesel conversion may be an option all right. Now who can make a diesel cylinder head. An 8,500rpm diesel engine could be fun!!!

GPL option could be fun. Now where to we put the gas tank?
